Borussia Dortmund skipper Mats Hummels won't move to Manchester United this summer.
The Mirror says Hummels performed a U-turn over a possible move to Manchester United because they took too long to firm up their interest.

The Borussia Dortmund star was initially keen on a £35million summer switch.

But the 26-year-old World Cup winner is now planning to stay in Germany. United are weighing up their options with Valencia’s Nicolas Otamendi, 27, another defender on Reds boss Louis Van Gaal’s radar.

The delay left Hummels convinced United remain unsure he is the answer to their search for a centre-back, leading to his change of heart.

With both players both valued at 35 mio quids and Ota helping Valencia inching towards the Champions League next season while Hummels have left enough holes for Dortmund to finish off at around mid table, I believe LVG and the United Board has to take a closer look and ponder the options.

Next, it was said that United had agreed personal terms with Ota and that could have left Hummels to signal to the rest of the world to come and get him as his wait for LVG to call could possibly be non forth-coming. United has just signal to him just yesterday that he is in United's radar but quite evidently things must be developing for Hummels to pull out.

Once bitten twice shy
I didn't include the topic of this article 'Hummels reject United', to avoid any misunderstanding
If you get what I meant ;)

Van Gaal will work on transfers while on holiday

Louis van Gaal admits he is looking forward to holidaying at his “paradise in Portugal”, although the Manchester United manager has assured fans he will be in constant contact with Ed Woodward regarding transfers.

United will face Hull City in the final match of the Barclays Premier League season on Sunday and it has been a particularly long campaign for van Gaal, whose reign as boss began just days after leading the Netherlands to a third place finish at the World Cup.

During his weekly interview with MUTV, the manager spoke about his plans to enjoy a well-earned rest. “Yes, immediately after the match we will have a farewell drink and after that we have a recovery day, and then we go off. All the players have to fly out to international duties but I will go on holidays and I’m willing to go to my paradise in Portugal.”

Asked if all transfer business will be left to Woodward during that time, van Gaal was quick to explain the process: “No, not to Ed because you also have a telephone and computer, so we are always in contact. As a manager, you never have holidays but I am in a better climate than here in Manchester. I am sorry to say that!”

During his weekly press conference at the Aon Training Complex, van Gaal also explained his belief that David De Gea will still be a United player next season, despite recent media reports linking him with a summer transfer back to his native Spain.

Asked by reporters if Victor Valdes could potentially be United's no.1 next season in the scenario of De Gea leaving, van Gaal said: “First we have to wait and see if De Gea is leaving and then we shall talk about the other things.

"I believe still that David De Gea shall stay. I want to play David in the match against Hull City because I want to play my strongest team and with De Gea it is my strongest team.”

Interestingly, the boss has also held talks with several United players who could potentially leave the club for pastures new in the summer, although he has respectfully declined to identify those who might move on to different clubs.

“You know that I shall talk with them - we will have a farewell drink after the match. I have the Monday to talk [as well]. I have spoken to some players this week. You have to wait and see how these talks develop in terms of players staying or going away.”

Park to play in United v Bayern Legends match

Ji-sung Park is the latest name to be added to the Manchester United squad for the Legends match against Bayern Munich at Old Trafford on 14 June.

The Korean fans’ favourite made over 200 appearances for the Reds between 2005 and 2012, winning 13 major trophies, and became the first Asian to play in a Champions League final in 2009.

Legendary captain Bryan Robson will lead the United side, which also features Park’s former Reds team-mates Edwin van der Sar and Paul Scholes, as well as Jaap Stam, Andy Cole, Dwight Yorke and Louis Saha. However, Owen Hargreaves, who was due to line up for both of his old teams, will no longer be taking part in the game.

Another of Park’s ex-colleagues from his days with PSV Eindhoven, Mark van Bommel, is in the Bayern All-Stars squad, and fans can also look forward to seeing the likes of Giovane Elber and Dietmar Hamann, led by manager Paul Breitner.

"I never expected to play again at Old Trafford but sometimes good things happen," Park told ManUtd.com. "It’ll be an honour to come back.

"When I went back to PSV, I met Edwin and van Bommel, which was nice. But I’ve not seen Louis for a long time, since he left United, so I’m looking forward to catching up with him and the other guys again.

"It’ll be great to play against Bayern Munich – they’re a big club who are well known around the world. It’ll be an exciting game for me and the fans, and it’s all for a great cause."

The first leg of the charity game, last August, ended in a 3-3 draw in Munich, so there is all to play for in the return match, which kicks off at 14:30 BST. Tickets are priced from £20 for adults and from £5 for under 16s, with the day including plenty of pre-match entertainment, including live music from headline act Union J and 2014 X Factor winner Ben Haenow. Hospitality packages are also available from £99.

All proceeds go to Manchester United Foundation. Call 0161 826 6920 or buy online.

Squads (subject to change):

Manchester United Legends: Edwin van der Sar, Raimond van der Gouw; Ronny Johnsen, Jaap Stam, Phil Neville, Denis Irwin, Dion Dublin, Clayton Blackmore, Lee Martin; Bryan Robson, Quinton Fortune, Jesper Blomqvist, Paul Scholes, Russell Beardsmore, Ben Thornley, Ji-sung Park; Andy Cole, Dwight Yorke, Louis Saha, Andy Ritchie.

Bayern Munich All-Stars: Hans-Jorg Butt, Walter Junghans; Markus Babbel, Hans Pflugler, Oliver Kreuzer, Matthias Zimmermann, Daniel van Buyten, Michael Tarnat, Robert Kovac; Niko Kovac, Mark van Bommel, Marcel Witeczek, Paul Breitner, Dietmar Hamann, Maurizio Gaudino; Paulo Sergio, Roy Makaay, Giovane Elber, Michael Rummenigge, Alexander Zickler.
