Most of first-team players are back in training tomorrow as Liverpool begins pre-season preparations. New signings James Milner and Nathaniel Clyne will both start training at Melwood together with other Jordan Henderson, Adam Lallana and Raheem Sterling.

wonder how the team will receive sterling knowing that this person has been courting to abandon the team all summer.

ironically, since the start of the transfer window, our transfer dealings seem to have quietened down. kovacic seems a distant memory. the strongest link is still benteke but I doubt that is possible unless villa drops their asking price to 25 million. hernandez, higuain are just newspaper trying to boost sales. I really hope we can get a proper DM and striker.

No...even 5-6m which supposed to be set . Burnley rejected the claim and asked for 8m.

Neither side wants to go to a tribunal and talks are on-going in an attempt to come to a compromise after Burnley, who have been relegated back to the Championship, rejected a proposed £5m fee from Liverpool.

The Clarets value Ings at around £8m and want the cash quickly to fund their own transfer targets with the new season now just a month away.

Liverpool are wary of going to a tribunal, especially as Tottenham are understood to have lodged a £12m bid with the Clarets to sign Ings.

Purposely don't pass ball to him, don't let him score. But when he does the same to other team, scold him.

I think signing is confirmed as he is out of contract. But somehow underage free transfer...burnley is entitled to be paid for compensation. So the only dispute is an agreed fee.

if you realised, both milner and ings are not listed as Liverpool players yet. if I'm not wrong, this has to do with the expiry of their current contract. got to wait for the current contract to expire before we can sign them. their current contract may not zhun zhun fall on 30 jun so that we can sign them on 1 jul. what they have signed are pre contracts.

Sean O'Driscoll ends a 10-month stint as head coach of England's U19s side in order to join Brendan Rodgers' backroom team as assistant manager.

The Wolverhampton-born coach brings 20 years' worth of coaching experience with him to Anfield, and a reputation for a commitment to expressive, intelligent football.

As he explained after confirming his move to the Reds: "At the start of my coaching career 20 years ago I embarked on trying to get players to think for themselves, rather than be coach-led.

"Some do this instinctively, some have to be nurtured into thinking this way. This is as relevant today as it was then in trying to produce fluid, entertaining and winning teams.

"I'm looking forward to working with such a talented group of players and staff and I am delighted to be here."

O'Driscoll began his career in football as a midfielder, with an 11-year stay at Bournemouth accounting for the majority of his playing days.

Helping the Cherries earn promotion to the Second Division in 1987 proved a highlight at club level, and he also picked up three senior caps for the Republic of Ireland before hanging up his boots.

But it was following retirement that he truly began to make waves, after succeeding Mel Machin in the role of manager at the club he served for so long as a player.

The appointment proved a turning point for the south-coast club, who steadily progressed under their new boss before earning promotion to the Second Division via the play-offs in 2002-03.

Six years after taking charge at Dean Court, O'Driscoll was snapped up by then-League One outfit Doncaster Rovers and enjoyed further success at the south Yorkshire club.

After winning the Football League Trophy in his debut season, he led Rovers to the Championship via the play-offs.

It was during this spell that O'Driscoll first encountered Rodgers, as they went head-to-head when the latter made his managerial debut with Watford in November 2008.

The pair subsequently struck up a relationship that has resulted in a reunion at Melwood and is founded on a shared belief in certain coaching ideals.

"As a manager I stood in rival dugouts next to Brendan on numerous occasions and have always really enjoyed our conversations about developing players," O'Driscoll added.

"We both have similar beliefs in what we expect from players and will always challenge but support them in playing with a freedom and with responsibility in pressured situations, while demanding consistent performance levels to give us the best possible chance of sustainable success."

Since leaving Doncaster in 2011, O'Driscoll has added to his CV with stints at Nottingham Forest, Bristol City and, latterly, England U19s.

And he can't wait to get started on preparations for the 2015-16 campaign after making Anfield his latest port of call.

"I have watched a number of games at Anfield over the years and the club's history and the support of the fans never fails to make the hairs on the back of your neck stand up," he enthused.

"The philosophy of football here is engrained into football folklore; this has evolved and developed as players come and go and eras change but the underlying principles that make Liverpool Football Club what it is will always endure."

Liverpool Football Club today confirmed the appointments of Sean O'Driscoll and Pepijn Lijnders to the first-team coaching staff.

O'Driscoll joins the club as assistant manager to Brendan Rodgers, while Lijnders takes on the newly-created role of first team development coach after 12 successful months at the Academy.

Rodgers said: "I have made these appointments because I want to take us in a new technical direction, in terms of coaching.

"I believe the entire first-team set-up will benefit and I am extremely positive and excited about what we can achieve, as a group, going forward."

O'Driscoll arrives at Anfield with a wealth of coaching experience, most recently as England U19s manager. He's also been at the helms of Bournemouth, Doncaster Rovers, Nottingham Forest and Bristol City.

"My admiration for Sean, as a professional, is well documented," said Rodgers. "He is someone with a clear vision and philosophy and has proved he has the ability to transfer that knowledge, through his coaching, to the players.

"I am looking forward to working with him and also learning from his experiences and gaining valuable knowledge from his expertise."

O'Driscoll added: "I am excited to be joining one of the world's most iconic football clubs. The hallmark of any successful club is its culture and that comes from the people who work there, from the chief executive and first-team manager to those people behind the scenes whose faces may not be known but who are the lifeblood of the club.

"From the moment I drove into Melwood last week and was greeted by Kenny the gateman, I could not have been made to feel more welcome. If you are going to have any level of success these people are as crucial as the players; from my experiences so far it is clear everyone wants to help this club succeed."

Lijnders, who held roles at PSV Eindhoven and FC Porto prior to joining Liverpool in 2014, oversaw the development of the club's U16 group last season.

He will continue to work with the elite talent at the Academy as part of his new brief, which has been created in line with the new technical approach to coaching undertaken by the club.

And the senior squad are now also set to benefit from his regular presence at Melwood.

Rodgers said: "This presents a fantastic opportunity for Pep and one I know he will grasp with both hands.

"He has excelled at the Academy and I believe this is the perfect time for him to make the step up to the first-team set-up and use his talents for the benefit of the senior squad.

"Pep displays a passion and enthusiasm for his profession that is truly infectious and I believe will have a positive impact."

Lijnders added: "I feel proud and honoured to work closely with Brendan and his staff. I couldn't think of a better attacking manager to assist.

"Everybody knows how I feel about representing this amazing club. The owners have a clear and strong philosophy which is based on developing top young players into elite - I want to thank them for giving me this opportunity.

"I had a great first year at the Liverpool FC Academy; Alex [Inglethorpe] and his coaching staff are creating something unique there. Again, I am proud to be part of the team and we will give everything."

Good. Not my choice by far but I'm thankful that we've mostly sorted these positions out.

None being mentioned about Pascoe's and Marsh's tenure though..

Brendan, Sean and Pepijn need to show they can deliver otherwise their stay can be very short. Remember Roy?

Havent officially join already got disputes from club to club. Ings better not be a flop.

Remember Salif Diao, got work permit issue then dilly dally came to LFC with high hopes of as a good DM, alas ended up as a flop.

As a matter of fact, when one dont performs in BPL, usually newspaper labelled them as flop.

This coaching appointment could either be a stroke of genius or fail spectacularly and be the downfall of BR.

Our dear Brendan sure like to live dangerously. YOLO! :o
