Doesn't matter the cost would at most go up by 100 bucks or so? The experience is totally different. Like how Apple goes for full SSD in their Mac series. It drive up the cost but the experienc eis different esp to the users who don't understand what's going on. They would think, Apple is better because of their system instead of attributing it to the SSD.

Apple is like a lifestyle, people usually don't mind paying more for it I guess. I look at PS4, pricing is like so crucial and most people usually don't notice it.

Well SSD pricing are falling, hope that they can make the T1 price point about the same price as desktop SSDs, need not be the same, slightly higher by $30 would be a good sign.

So that more people will start to appreciate the need of an portable SSD.

That's a really short cable . Should change to longer ones lol especially for desktop. Samsung should include long cable too.
Some like the cable to be short, some like it to be long. Hopefully long ones don't affect the data transfer speed too much. Maybe Samsung should include 2 USB cables of different length when the retail price is high. Cost price should be low since they purchase in bulk.
Might as well give it for FREE. Singaporeans' favourite word.
Every nationality also same.

Maybe you could ask Samsung for EVO+ cards for review.

And do the waterproof test!

Just a quick video for people who are interested in the drop test.

From the looks of it, seems like the Samsung Portable SSD T1 can survive quite high drops (2m in the video). I'm not even sure if a similar portable HDD can survive with a drop at that height.

Skip to 1:20 for the drop

I wonder if HWZ will do similar tests with the Samsung Portable SSD T1 just like they did with their MicroSD EVO.

This is really good, thanks for sharing.

Maybe the cable is short so that the transfer speed is fast. But I think a longer cable might be more convenient.

Then samsung needs to create an app for it to be used on a smartphone.

What do you guys think the torque, 23, and Samsung gear in the pic mean?

Most will end up selling the freebies.

Wow highest rewards point is now 528.

The Torque magazine is SPH's product.
23 Racing is a new racing team, maybe refers to the SSD T1 being a new product on the market.
Samsung Gear Fit is light, compact and durable lifestyle gadget similar to the SSD T1.

yeah short cable probably for faster speed. worry that long cable might affect speed too like how some longer USB cables have longer charge time when using to charge.

To improve the SSD T1, USB 3.1 and wifi capabilities can be introduced.
Maybe the SSD T1 can be unlocked by using an app too instead of a using password.

I'm still using my 5 year old laptop with USB 2.0 lol.
Maybe I change to a new one if I manage to win 500GB or 1TB Samsung SSD T1.

Hope you guys can get it, maybe after winning it, post a few pictures to show your new setup :D

Hold another rewards contest with PRO/PRO+ memory cards as prizes?
Maybe next time. Expensive might mean lesser rewards.
At this point i think almost all aspects of the Samsung SSD T1 has been discussed to death liao. hahaha. The fast Turbowrite read/write speeds compared to traditional HDD, the durability of the drive from shock and vibration, and the stylish premium design and compact form factor.
Time for Hardwarezone to abuse the Samsung T1 ssd to see how long it can last.
Samsung kept coming out many new products.
New products are being released constantly, see already will blur.
Evo+ as compared to the Evo of course the Evo+ is better. BTW, dont get mixed up with their PRO and PRO plus range of MicroSD cards which provide even greater speed, which is more expensive.

Simply put, EVO+ is Samsung's newer series of EVO, EVO is their previous version. According to Samsung, EVO+ can read and write speeds of 80MB/s and 20MB/s. EVO can provide 48MB/s transfer speed. Both are using the UHS-I interface, so make sure your device can support the UHS standard before purchasing it (although most new phones do support it) Even if your device do not support it, it will still read and write at Class 10, just that it will not be able to utilize the fast transfer speed.
In my own experience, regular EVO cards is more than capable enough for 4k recording. I'm using Samsung 64GB EVO MicroSD.
I hope this help.
Didn't Samsung just release the Samsung EVO only?
Adding new products to the EVO so fast?

but by using WiFi it sort of defeats the purpose of having an SSD inside since it's gonna be much slower. Maybe samsung can use a cheaper SSHD

Those less than 1m shouldn't affect much, 2, 3m onwards? Should have some effect on transmission.

If future versions of the Samsung SSD T1 can be shrunk to gum stick sized like what jeff79 shared, then it could be like a thumb drive without the need for a cable.

The T1 would be even more portable and can be strung together with your keys.

I would worry about losing it lol. Maybe they can make it to a name card size, that would be pretty good. Portable and the chance of misplacing will be lower.

Interested in knowing how durable is the Samsung Portable SSD T1 too.

Do not know longer cables will affect the charge time, always use the cable inside the box.

No matter how cheap, the existence of portable SSD is already considered a premium, considering alongside other products like thumbdrives, SD cards and CF cards.
