People do stupid things from time to time. That includes you and me.
As a society, we want people to learn from their mistakes, but also want to give them a chance to recover. Do you say to the old lady who collects cardboard boxes: "I'm sorry, but you should have worked harder and saved up more in your youth"? Or can you acknowledge her imperfect past yet still help her in the present?
Besides, it's frankly inane to think that the baby bonus will encourage more people to become single mothers. Raising a child is a lifelong commitment, and families will sacrifice far more than the meager thousands that the government can give.
And what about the child? Whatever your misgivings about the mother herself, you should give the child every opportunity to succeed.
Most pple make stupid mistakes. She on the other hand made multiple stupid mistakes in the same instance
1)Allow a loser to F her
2)Without a Condom
3)Got Pregnant and still doesn't occur to her a lifetime of commitment is needed
4)Decided to bring child into the world even though she clearly is unable to support the child
5)Somehow got herself arrested while pregnant
Yeah most of us do stupid things but it takes a special kind of stupid to do so many stupid things on the same issue
BTW I agree with U, the kid is innocent and should not be punished for the stupidity of the mum. However I also want to point out that the last time a minister asked the question if we can accept child out of weblock, many pple in EDMW flame him to kingdom come so there U have it. Its not the govt not accepting them, its the pple who cannot accept it and the ruling govt not wanting to lose votes being forced to maintain status quote
