Hi Everyone

I'll be heading to Tokyo on the 1 Nov. for 18 days and I'm still trying to figure our the itinerary and budget. Currently, I'm budgeting about 1400$SGD (exc. airticket)

I'll be staying at my friend's place, so i'm saving on accommodation. But i just realized that 18 days in Tokyo might be too long. Where would you guys recommend I go for a day trip or two? Is there anywhere near i can go for skiing? any idea how much it would cost as well?
Would 1400 be enough?

how do you read the exchange rate thingy? Tampines 1's rate was 117. mustafa 11.64 which i assume is 116 comparing to tamp's.

Shouldn't be a problem. If you are a seasonal shoestring budget. Overnight Willer Express Bus or hitchhiking may be your options.

Visit Hong Leong building, their rate is better.

fyi only, always be prepared for unforeseen circumstance such as Earth Shaking hor. :s22:
Also, in cold weather stomach die die has to be filled.

$1400 excluding accom and airtickets is ard $75 per day for food, admission tix and getting ard. that is a comfortable budget if u are travelling within the city or to nearby places.

nov is too early for skiing. haven't start snowing and ski resort will not be open.
u can make day trips to places like lake kawaguchi, yokohama, nikko, kamakura. will be good to stay a night or more at some of these places since u have 18 days. wun be so rush. but of coz need to relook budget if planning to stay overnight of travel to further places.

11.64 is the amount of SGD u pay for 1000yen. so u would want the number to be as low as possible.

do u plan to go to other places in kansai, such as Kyoto, nara, kobe etc, or just Osaka only?

if Osaka only, it think 8-10 days would be good. but if tt is the case, I would suggest dropping Osaka altogether coz it is expensive and time consuming to travel all the way from Tokyo to Osaka just for the 1-2 days.

if u were to include other parts of kansai, then I suggest 2 weeks. 1 week for kansai areas, 1 week for mount Fuji + Tokyo

u can refer to the first post of this thread on how to budget for ur trip

Assuming you got HongBao S$100 to top up your budget to S$1500. =:p

Based on Today ArcadeMoney rate 11.58

S$1500 x 86.35, will get you 130,000 Yens (rounded up hor, 500 Y.token get it from EDWMer) :D

I would like to ask for mine too

14 days in Osaka and Tokyo, including USJ and DisneySea. Accommodation and JRpass settled. Will mostly go for non-atas food places plus some shopping and visitings.

Will 2k be enough?

i would think it is a very comfortable budget with more than $100 a day, mainly for food, transport and admission tickets. can refer to the first post of this thread if u want more detailed budgeting.
shopping is really hard to say coz i dunno ur shopping style. but u can always use credit card shopping is run out of cash.
