need some suggestions, all the aircon units in my home suddenly not blowing cold air, unsure what might have caused it.

age is about 10 years now, not sure if we should try to engage a servicing company to troubleshoot and repair or just go for a brand new AC system and opt for those energy saving, looking between Daikin and Mitsubishi if this is the case.

any opinions guys?

thanks.

whats yr aircond brand...?

as i know chemical overhaul (aircon man say is dismantle the indoor unit down and put chemical to the things) charges around $120 (my aircond guy charge me this amount)

Sounds reasonable 120 bucks. Can PM me contact?

.I want to stop using my aircon man already ..keep asking me to top up gas and keep asking me to do steam cleaning ..

Anyway is there a away to stop air con from being mouldy like putting some thing in the unit...my aircon becomes mouldy after 1 month after overhaul chemical cleaning ..

Does replacing a 10 yr old non-inverter aircon with a new inverter aircon require change piping? If so, can go up to how much ah?

1 bedroom aircon no gas, needs pressure test to check gas leaking. Another aircon compressor too old & giving bad smell - if do chemical clean can risk failing it.

Thinking of just replacing both with a $2k mit electric system 2. But should I expect piping replacement?

Hello averlanche, if im not wrong it depends. You could get some advice from 1-2 contractors perhaps? I think some really do require change of piping while some situation doesnt require. You can call and check perhaps? The numbers suggested in this thread should be quite reliable. My contact is ** at ********.

Hope this helps you solve abit of problem !

I just did a chemical wash for my air con unit by Mr Ong @9824 5613, based on the positive reviews I read of him online.

After this servicing, I understand why people online have been saying that he is a honest guy.

I asked him on regular servicing and although he could use this chance to make more money, he said for my case, it is not necessary since we don't use it much.

I asked if he does installation because my new house is coming. He doesn't but he's kind enough to offer me some advice on the different brands that are good and advice on new house air con installation based on his customers' experiences.

I was so impressed with his kindness and honesty that I am writing this review immediately after he left!

Can try contacting if you need a honest service! By the way, I noticed he doesn't answer calls when he is doing his work although those calls may be businesses for him. I told him I had a hard time finding him too so he told me SMS better but he kinda only works office hours, he doesn't reply during evenings and weekends.

cost of changing external PCB

Hi all,

Just wanted to share this for the benefit of comparison.

I have a pretty old Daikin aircon system with 3 units, probably 5+ y/o. It recently started behaving funny: aircons would switch on and off automatically, without any lights blinking or anything else. Just like in poltergeist )

I bought this system second hand from Hong Tar, so gave them a call to come check it out. The technician said the PCB in the condenser unit was faulty and charged SGD380 to replace it. Condenser unit is Daikin 3MKD75DVM. Works fine now. They also give you 3m warranty.

Hope this might be useful for someone.

Hi, just got a new inverter sys 3 aircon. It's my first set from changing from non-inverter. My MBR rarely switch on air con, (once a year kind) and the installation guy says we should run the unit at least once a week for 15 mins.

He also says that when one unit spoil, the other units can't work also.

He also mentioned that we cannot frequently change temperatures, but I'm not sure what he means by 'frequently'. Does he mean changing within the same hour? Or is changing per 2-3 hours alright?

Are these true? I'm trying to see how much we can get away without servicing since we used to only service the old aircon after 10 years.

Any other tips on how to take care of the inverter aircon (other than regular servicing, as its known already)?

wall aircon giving off smell

Hello everyone, my bedroom aircon suddenly stopped cooling. When I turn it on can get some smell. Also, cannot hear the fan running (earlier, it was quite noisy but at least it was cooling the room!).
Any ideas what's happening?

Any recommendations for honest and fair aircon repair person/company?

Oh, I've got another question. When the guy installed, I noticed that he never cover up the pipes coming out from the outdoor unit. It's usually the one with the white cover that covers over the pipe on the outdoor unit. He says cannot cover because he connect 1 direction to MBR and another direction for the remaining 2 rooms.

Is this alright? Will there be a risk of leaks or other effects in the near future?
