I doubt anyone can prevent that. There'll always be such people around. One thing they've proven however is that nobody is infallible or untouchable when the govt is afraid of its people. In addition to that, its no longer necessary to pay them high salaries.

Taiwan is in economical ruin at the moment.

The most urgent task is to revive their economic power and increase the wealth of the people.
