I just found out that they are actually the same company now.

Settling on SVS Prime speakers - 2x Bookshelves, 1x Centre, 2x Satellite.

With 4x Yamaha ICS-600 InCeilings.

Any idea which AVR is better?

No need to think

But still got small differences. Like the Marantz's speaker connectors look nicer.

In old interview with Marantz-Denon people, they say Marantz amps are built for music while Denon built for cinema. Over time i see they have converged the internal designs to save costs.

The designs have always been similar. The differences are in things like the HDAM modules, direct inputs, pre-outs etc.

Kena poison to the max.

Ended up getting the SVS Floorstanding Package (Since the difference was about $800 and the stands for bookshelf costs like $300)

Plus a Marantz SR7011 since no stock for most other AVRs.

Dear all ,

Pardon me as I am a total novice and urgently need help

I recently bought a pair of Mission SX2 & the centre SXC1 but no Sub.

I am now hoping to buy either Klipsch KSW 10 or SVS SB 1000... which one should I go for ? Would the SVS over power my Mission ?

My Amp is Marantz 5011.

Setup in my new BTO 4 room living.

I would be most grateful for kind help and advice !

Regards
Sean

Is the Denon X4400H available in Singapore? Haven't seen it advertised, any idea of pricing?

So I've just come back from shopping around and prices for both are pretty skewed. Firstly Lazada has the Denon as 2.9K which is way too much.

Street prices are around 2.2 - 2.4K. The more surprising thing is that the Marantz can be had for about 1.7K! The only difference I can see between the two is that the Denon has a slightly higher power rating of 125W vs the 110W for the Marantz, and the Denon has a slightly lower distortion of 0.06% THD vs 0.08% for the the Marantz. Perhaps more signifcantly the Denon supports Auro-3D but the Marantz doesn't.

But a $600 price difference for what are essentially the same AV receivers is a lot, unless Auro-3D is an important factor.

For me, I'm running power amps for L,R and C channels and only using the AV Receiver's amps for rears, surrounds and heights, in this case, the Marantz is the obvious choice.

Other minor differences I can see are that the Marantz has gold plated analog connectors and it also has surround inputs

Price is largely dependent on country and distributors.

Lower "minimum distortion" e.g. the 0.06% number tends to correlate with more maximum output power since max output power are always spec-ed at the same distortion value for everybody e.g. 10% and 1%.

Spec differences can be due to different measurement criteria - although it is also possible for same design but different parts used to result in legitimate difference specs e.g. like your 500W PSU vs 700W PSU.

That said, when maximum output power limited by component quality hasn't been reached, performance is mainly dependent on design.
