i have bed bugs before in my house. almost impossible to get rid.

check the seams of your mattress. they like to hide there. also get some roller tape. those ikea kind or someplace cheaper. roll over any surface u come along, mattress, sofa, etc. it will stick quite alot of it up. they are tiny and transparent so u cant really see them. those you can see are already jiak ba ba with your blood liao.

i got BB in my room for more than a year. ever since i moved back to my parent's house, i slept without bed frame. slowly i had to sleep with blanket, bolster, pillow n at 1 point without mattress covers.

still they keep coming back n so my mother changed a new mattress for me. after all these i had done, they keep coming back for more. nowadays i m seeing more baby BB which i think means that adult BB r getting lesser n so baby BB got to hunt on their own.

more were done by repainting the room, throwing away unnecessary stuffs n shifting my furnitures but i m still seeing BB in the room. but i think is much better now as compared to 6 months ago. now is just have to keep spraying anti BB solutions on my mattress n areas around it to prevent them for feeding on me

It is good that you wrapped or sealed your mattress with plastic sheets. That way any bb or eggs will be imprisoned and not bother you. But you still gotta cover you bed frame (wood or metal) with a huge plastic sheet becos the bed frame is where the bugs can still hide and emerge to feed on you. By covering the bed and sealing your mattress, you isolate your sleeping space like a quarantined island, which makes it easier to get rid of any bb on it. You still have to constantly wipe the plastic covered mattress and wash or clean any item on it like bed sheet, pillow, books etc - anything on the mattress which the bb can hide. It is a war of attrition.

Bed bugs are an absolute b*tch to deal with. I suffered for 1 full year.

The best way is to throw away the furniture, get pest control in ($500), then change brand new METAL furniture. Yes, even the nightstand and bedside cabinet.

Now almost every piece of furniture in my room is metal. Not the prettiest, but at least I can sleep well.

Thanks.....i cover mattress w plastic.....n still they come. I feel itchy most times.....almost every corner of the house.
I resign to the fate i have to live w bed bugs......

Sent from Asus ME173X using GAGT

u still feel itchy could b an aftereffect. I read somewhere that if u were bitten for a long period of time, u will always have a feeling of being bitten or very sensitive to bites. bb bites wears off slowly, so sometimes i cannot keep track when the bites took place if there r too many of them.

fight on, dun give up. i m 1 step closer to eliminate them totally

It's better to seek professional help with BB treatment. I was infested once with bedbugs and it was just the beginning stage. I didn't want to take any chances and engaged a pest control company. They had to fumigate the whole house with a mister filled with a type of insecticide which has residual properties. They did the fumigation twice in a span of 2 weeks and so far the BB have been gone for years.

The main problem with most people is that they seek professional help too late. DIY methods can only work to a certain extent. Once you see BB in your bedroom, chances are there are other areas in your house that are infested as well. Unless you can treat the whole house thoroughly, you will not be able to get rid of them once and for all.

Absolutely agree. Thats another terrifying aspect of bb. Their tenacity. They can survive for months w/o feeding. But they are no machines and must die if starved long enough, just like your enemy who must die if you cut off their food supply. The key is how. Their main source of food is your blood which they suck when you sleep on your bed. Thats y they are called bed bugs. They appear elsewhere bcos there are too many and want to spread. But if you can deny them their food, then they must ultimately die. And if you deny them a safe place to hide, then they become easy targets. This is likened to a war of attrition, in which you wear out your enemy but leave your properties relatively intact. Or you can fight an explosive chemical war by calling in the big guns (bug buster) which might entail turning your place upside down, tearing up or discarding your furniture etc. It might destroy them or it might not, giving you only a temporary reprieve. As Gix once said, no pest co. can assure you that.

Well the pest control company that I engaged did assure me that the BB will be eradicated. In fact, they even give a guaranteed period as well after a sniffer dog gives your place an all green. I didn't have to throw away a single piece of furniture as well.
