I've been trying to ask SingTel "Shirley" but she's too ignorant on the topic to provide any relevant information.

When I upgraded my SingTel Mio bundle to fibre medium, they provided an Aztech FG7003GRV router. The experience with the router has been mediocre at best. I am considering an alternative router. No brand or model decided yet, but I'd like to know the technical details involved to even get a separate router to work properly with the ONT and upstream networks.

I can't find any SingTel support page that teaches how to configure 3rd-party routers.

From what I gathered so far, it does not appear to be a simple plug-and-play experience for the router to magically get Internet and Mio TV access. There must VLAN configuration upstream I believe. The recent revelation of the advance admin pages on the Aztech router did show some VLAN configuration which I believe are mandatory.

Thing is, I do not fully understand these configuration settings and how would they translate onto other brand routers? Has anybody found a SingTel page(s) documenting these details?

What's the problem with this 7003? If faulty can always ask support to come and can replace it.

Your effort to configure 3rd party routers is already halved of what others used to have in the past. Thanks to many manufacturers that included the preset profiles, you could just select the appropriate one and you'll get the singtel tv connection as well as the fibre internet.

Now being a 3rd party router, you cant override certain settings such as which LAN port to use for singtel tv. Eg: asus routers default singtel tv to be port 4.

Other than this, i dont think it is cumbersome to make a switch. Pop by here once you've decided the brand of router to purchase, and most of us would be able to advise you should you need help..

You can consider to use Asus wireless router. Their router has singtel preset profile ,which you can select, and it supports singtel miotv. I am using Asus n56, replacing my aztech 7003, and I am able to watch miotv with it. No comments for other routers as I didnt try except for asus brand.

cisco x3000 can use or not

Hi,
I have existing cisco x3000 router that I have been using until I upgraded to 200 Mbps fibre 2 months ago. Tried replace the provided Aztech 7003-J with the Cisco but the Wan port isn't able to get dhcp addr from the ONT.

Anyone know if the Cisco supports vlan tagging? If yes, how to get it to work?

Thanks in advance.

linksys x3000 does not support fibre broadband as it is an ADSL+ modem router, let alone vlan tagging.. I'm afraid you need to get a newer router if you wish to replace the 7003-J..

If your firmware is old version, you need to update the firmware from Cisco website.

The WAN port should work if you update it. However, it does not support VLAN tagging. The connection to the ONT should work for internet but not MioTV and digital phone line.

So if 1 day, I decided to get a Asus n56 router to replace my aztech 7002, what setting do I need to do to get miotv to work?

Just select the singtel present profile which is in the router settings?

TIA!

Yes.

When u configure your router, there will be a selection for u to do so.

even if u have 2 MIO TV also no problem.

Can D-Link DIR868L replace 7002 Singtel Fiber 200M?

Hi,

hope this is a right forum to ask this question. I have a DIR868L and want to see if I can connect this directly to ONT.

Cannot seem to detect the internet connection although I tried the PPPoE and DHCP method at the setup page of Dlink.

Thanks for any advice/assistance.

You can only connect the 868l after the modem.

Nope, You Can't use D-Link DIR868L to replace 7002 Singtel Fiber 200M?
However there are a few mode which you can make use of :

1. Wireless Router - this is the default mode.

2. Wireless AP - the usual AP configuration which could be done manually rather easily. AP provides both wireless and wired connections to the network.

3. Wireless Bridge - the wireless link works as a "bridge" connecting the router/AP to this piece. Only wired connections are available from here.

4. Wireless Repeater Extender - the wireless link connects the router/AP with the repeater. Both wired and wireless connections are available from the repeater.

I have got a similar problem. My D-link AC68 router works fine, I'm trying to replace it with a D-Link business router. I've configured the WAN port of the router to VLAN10, but it is still not getting an IP address from SingTel. Have you been able to solve this issue?
