Need some technical advice.
I just got a Acer Predator Helios 300, which comes with the Killer Wi-Fi 6 AX1650i 160MHz Wireless Network Adaptor (201 NGW).
My home is Singtel Broadband (500mbps) and I am using ASUS Wireless-AC1200 Dual Band 802.11 ac Gigabit router. While the laptop is brand new, the wireless router is about 3 years old.
The wireless router is still working very well. At home, we connect many devices (especially now with work from home), including laptops (office, personal), mobile phones (both iPhone and Android) and iPads. No problems.
But today, when I tried to set up my new laptop, the Wi-Fi connection doesn't work properly. The funny thing is this. There are a few sites that I can access. These include channelnewsasia, BBC, CNN, DBS e-banking (can see my account), and even CPF website using singpass to check my CPF balance.
Yet, there are so many websites I cannot access. Gmail is problematic. Also, I can't access Youtube, Facebook, Dropbox, iCloud and many more.
I have tried many times, including getting all the other devices to log off (in case there is bandwidth congestion on the router), but to no avail.
Then I tried to tether using my mobile plan, everything works. I also tried to tether from my wife's phone (she is on a different mobile provider), it also works.
I've been reading online to try to find out the problem, but I can't seem to find a solution.
To add on, I faced this problem when I first set it up, so I have reset the laptop (which would have reinstalled Windows), but the problem still remains.
If anybody has faced such a problem or have ideas, please let me know.
Update - I connected my laptop directly to the router using RJ45 cable and I have Ethernet connection. But the same problem persists!
