Hi, just wanna start off by saying i'm really stupid when it comes to internet. I've read through the forum threads looking for some insights but i have no idea what you guys are talking about, sorry.

Currently im using Viewqwest 1gbps, it sucks and thank god its ending in 2 months. Too much downtime (Tampines). So im requesting your help and expertise/experience on getting my next ISP.

Maybe these info might help, i usually streams movies (Netflix or other free streaming sites), occasional download via torrent and play LoL / Fortnite.

P.S. Do i need to know about DNS / Static ip / Public ip / ONT / ONR / Router models, i dont even know what these are and do i have to?

Thanks and really appreciate the help.

Here is what I learnt from this forums

Starhub: mostly reliable occasional ipv6 and dns issue. DNS issue can be solve by changing DNS server.

M1:mostly reliable. apparent DNS issue recently. I personally use M1 for 3 plus years and only experienced 2 downtimes both late light and solved in half an hour.

Singtel: Provides ONR so you cant use your own router unless according to some on this forums you threaten to cancel your service. Mostly reliable appart from the 24 hours downtime last year. Also does not provide option for static IP address.

Myrepublic: mostly reliable. Uses a carrier grade NAT so you are sharing wan IP addresses with other people. Seems to want to limit you to their own devices and not support your own equipment (look at their thread). Not as extreme as Singtel yet.
No ipv6.

Viewquest: according to this forums it's unreliable. Free static IP and option for freedom DNS which is also said to be unreliable.

Whizcomms: uses Singtel infrastructure. Not as controlling as Singtel (you can use your own router) not much other info.

I suggest you take the cheapest M1 plan (500Mbps) and reuse your router. If you really want 1Gbps whizcomms offer the cheapest plan.

Do you watch Singtel Tv or Starhub Tv?
If you watch PayTv then you can only get Starhub or Singtel. If not watching then can try M1.

You do not need to know so much in detail. Just the basic info like how to change the DNS setting etc, will do. Just need to know that you will need a good internet security suite for sure. Some home users may think they will never need a security suite which is not always true. Of course it is always up to the user to decide.
