Lenovo is a China company that is known(and has been caught multiple times) to load their products with a crapton for malware/spyware. I'd say avoid.

They are the few companies along with HP that are caught. We won't know if other manufacturers are doing so since virtually all driver , bios etc are closed sourced proprietary software.

Open source means the source code has to be freely available and obviously it will be impossible to sneak malware into the source code without people noticing.

As for Linux any contributed code has to be approved by Linus torvalds. Not like anyone can anyhow put stuff in to be pushed to mainline.

Unlike closed source windows that you will have no idea what extra functionality microsoft put into windows:s13:

Security updates happen as frequently on windows as for linux. Probably thanks to Microsoft not announcing every update that you think windows does not have any vulnerabilities

without people noticing ...you means programmer I guess. Then how do you explain so many security fixes? I worked in big exterprise system. I can confirm Linux has much more fixes vs Microsoft. Even on enterprise level Linux system.

erm the more frequent security updates the better? I don't see whats bad about that.

Also most Linux distribution handle updates of apps installed from the package manager. On windows the program has to handle updates itself.

All US refurbished sets have to return straight back to USA. Btw my t460s Lenovo motherboard failed after 3 weeks of usage and shipping fees via Singpost was over $150.

Outlet webstores have varying degrees of grading of the inventory.

From overstock to open box to dent/scratch etc. But they can be a hit or miss especially with a tag that explicitly states there's some physical damage, I've never tried anything outside of overstock personally.

But if I had to get a used one, I'll rather take something been put in active use for awhile (e.g. decomissioned coy laptops). The most you'd need is just some cleaning, new thermal paste and its ready for use.
