Nowadays cos a lot childcares mostly close at 7pm, so they normally want parents to fetch their kids by 6.30pm. So if work ends at 6pm, a lot of parents also ask to leave earlier to fetch their kids.

so since parents need to leave earlier to fetch their kids, might as well just make it the norm. then those no kids couples also can go back early for dating and make babies, while those singles have more time to attend after work activities to meet new people.
