Either grade 30 or 40 (second number, referring to viscosity) is fine. First number is referring to the climate the oil is going to be used in, which doesn't matter in local climate. Thicker oil normally last slightly longer, but engine will fill sluggish towards end of oil life cycle. Thinner oil allows the engine to rev up easier, but oil molecules break down faster. Will be collecting my 08 Fit this Saturday. Just checking, what grade of engine oil does it use. Mileage is about 110K. Also What CVT oil does it use? And what is the usual original colour of the CVT oil and Honda coolant? Just checking all these as i am planning to change out the fluids after collecting car. Thanks.
Make sure you use the standard Honda CVT oil, red color. Can't remember how the used oil looks like. I would make it a point to change the CVT oil upon car collection, whether the dealer say they change or not. Honda's CVT is extremely picky about any other type of CVT oil, better not play play.
As for coolant, normally light blue color, but some comes in lime green, so it varies. Lots of car users like Toyota's coolant, said to be better performing than other higher priced coolant.
