Reminds me of something I read that says many wealthy people don't drive flashy cars. Looking rich and being rich aren't necessarily the same thing.

I saw my CFO who's also the cofounder of the company get into his car a few days ago. It's an old, crappy looking toyota pick up truck. The company is valued at 2 billion USD right now.

Oh come on. I did not write that wealth and income are unimportant. However, it's absolutely true that money cannot buy many factors that contribute to happiness. Even in Singapore. And it's flat out wrong to suggest that you cannot influence those other factors. As examples, diet and exercise are factors that contribute to health, and diet and exercise are within your control. As another example, not smoking costs much less than smoking.

Guess I am far behind... don't see any possiblility of 1 million in cash by late 30s. Half a million maybe possible.

Mine even worst.
I may be able to achieve this (CPF + CASH) around half a million at around age 55.

I somehow quite agree with BBCWatcher.
I am not rich.
I believe is the mindset and what's the living style.
I live in simple life but I feel quite OK.
