Basically, my laptop overheated once again. But this time round it's different. It caused any game to run at less than 10fps when I normally run at 30-45fps.
I have tried multiple times restarting my laptop.
Any solutions / suggestions out there?

if your laptop is overheating, restarting isn't going to fix it. You'll probably need to clean the insides to get dust out for starters

No, its called thermal throttling. Your graphics card/cpu runs slower to prevent overheating and causing any permanent damage.

U mean a cooler will do more harm than good?

a cooler might give u a 1-5 degrees drop at best. its not worth any extra money. A cooler also blows more dust into your fans.
So yes, a cooler does more harm than good. You should just clean up the fans.

Depends. Most coolers out there pulls hot air away from the base of the laptop. However, most laptops also pull air from below to blow hot air out from the rear of the laptop. Thus, you have a case of where if the cooler fan is directly below where your laptop fan pulls air in, it might deprive it of cool air to draw in.

And even in cases where it works, the result may not be anywhere near impressive. I reckon at best a drop of a couple of degrees.

The cooler for the laptop must first be able to at least keep up with the heat. The sad fact is, most laptops out there cannot even accomplish this. Add on to the fact that dust builds up on the heatsink and fan, it will become worst.

Is your nvidia optimus screwing up and using intel hd instead of gpu? 10 fps i think is running most likely on intel hd.

Might need to check your Windows device manager and make sure you Nvidia card still inside the list :) if not well you know what to do~ open up and clean your notebook.

Im using radeon card..
Anyway, the problem has been solved through a factory reset.
Regarding the cooler,I might consider not using it.
