1600Mhz running @ 1333only

My ram is 1600mhz but at 1333mhz only. how do i change it anyone knows ?

ive heard before that 1600 is considered overclocking because its using XMP profiles, if thats the case would it be overly taxing on the ram? im using corsair vengeance 4gb x 2 1600mhz.

does anyone know about XMP profile disregarding voltages and may cause ram slot or ram to fail faster due to over voltage?

If your RAM is rated/advertised at 1600MHz, it should run at 1600MHz. Otherwise its a bad RAM. Not sure about XMP profiles overvolting but in general RAM should not go above 1.65v

Wrong actually, some mobo able to detect it and automatically run as 1600mhz..
For those are not able to, you have to manually set it in bios.

What I'm referring to is TS saying that 1600MHz is considered overclocking, which it isn't because the RAM is rated/advertised at 1600MHz.

BIOS change from 1333 to 1600 or automatically run at 1600, the RAM should run at 1600 no problem otherwise its a bad RAM.

i would think that having to set it manually is considered overclocking cos for example, if i take 667 and 800mhz ddr2 rams and stick them in slots the mobo will auto detect and run at the speed accordingly.

however 1333 and 1600 is not that simple and XMP is required even tho my MSI motherboard advertise that it support 1600 natively.

for me i feel that if motherboard is advertised to support 1600 i shouldnt need to use XMP, juz like my laptop which auto runs at 1600 the moment i add 1600 ram.

the term XMP (extreme memory profile) itself is already suggesting overclocking
