My 5 year old inspiron 1720 just died and I need to replace it. Any suggestions for a 17 inch widescreen laptop. My gaming requirements not high. Just want to play 2 year old games like shogun 2 total war. Thanks!!

Hi, thanks for replying.

I am thinking of $2000 or below.
I saw a 17 inch alienware, but that's $2.5K+, above budget and kind of above-spec for me.
Since I play more outdated games, I figured that I do not need that kind of specs.

I haven't been keeping track of PC technology for sometime, so I know little about current stuff. Any suggestions will be welcomed, so that I have some kind of starting point to research.

Thanks again

Think the new Haswell Processor Intergrated GFX is already good enough for total war series.

The New Haswell CPU have 50% more performance then existing HD4000. For 15 Inch Laptop with intergrated gfx should cost lesser then 1K.

The Asus G75VX-T4072H seems not bad.
What do you guys think? Any experiences with this model?

Feintan, thanks for the info.
What are examples of models that use the New Haswell CPU?

Haswell is supposed to be announced in June, as to the new laptop's ETA on our shores, it may either be available immediately, or sometime later. The newer Asus model that you are looking at should be known as G750. ;)

I think if you go into the Gaming laptop section here, I think PC Dreams is already taking pre orders for a Haswell gaming laptop from MSI.
