2 Weeks itinerary

Hi all,

I am having a hard time planning my upcoming Taiwan trip with my parents due to work commitment. Will be going over coming Mid to End Aug.

The skeleton plan of my trip will be:
3 days in Tainan
2 days in Kaohsiung
3 days in Hualien
6 days in Taipei

+- 1 day for each City (The sequence needs to be advised)

Hope those who are familiar can advise or share their opinions on where to go around each day in each cities, as well as the best area to stay at. I will probably engage a driver for the 3 cities with the exception of Taipei.

In my opinion you won't need a cab for Kaohsiung.

Since you are going with your parents, you may be interested in Fo Guang Shan. You would have to take a cab there though.

For the rest of the attractions, you can simply take the mrt and bus. Your itinerary can look like this:
Day 1: Fo Guang Shan in the day, Shinkuchan (Central park station) at night
Day 2: Cijin Island (Sizihwan station, and rent your bicycles from outside the station) in the day, Love River (Yanchengpu station) + Liu He night market (Formosa boulevard station) at night

You may consider Rui Feng night market as well.

I don't know what's your budget, but in my opinion the best hotel to stay in Kaohsiung would be the 85 Sky Tower Hotel. Luxurious plus excellent scenery.

You could go from Kaohsiung -- Tainan -- Hualien -- Taipei

Tainan could be done in 2 days:
1. Chikan tower, Confucius temple, Flower night market
2. Taijiang National Park, Anping area
Best to get a driver/cab since the bus lines are quite infrequent. For hotel you can find what you like, no recommendations.

Hualien, you can get here via a plane from Kaohsiung, or you can simply hire a driver (it's a tough ride though)
1. 七星潭 so of course you should stay at 七星潭渡假飯店 to get an excellent view of the coast, also visit the night market
2. Taroko National Park, hire a driver to bring you around.
Best to get a driver/cab

Taipei, 6 days is plenty. Not sure if you have been there before or what places you have in mind
1. Jiufen + Shifen
2. Taipei 101 + National Palace Museum (buy the package ticket)
3. Danshui + Shilin night market
4. Wufenpu + Raohe night market
5. Yangmingshan national park + Beitou hot springs
6. Shopping at taipei underground mall / Ximending?
Just listed some of the common attractions in Taipei, I'm sure it will be very easy to research about Taipei so I'll leave it to you
