Why get more than one iPhone per release?

Buying for someone else to use?

Using the bigger screen size iPhone already, don’t yiu find the smaller screen size not as ‘good’

Had been getting the max storage each time as well

But this time, 256 vs 512

Really is tough choice since both is more than $2k for something that last at most 1-2 year

I guess I will be getting the 512 GB model.

All my iPhones which I purchased starting 3GS, all are at the highest capacity.

I have no issue with the Xr, only the Xs and Xs Max.
If I get the Xs at 512GB, definitely will get the Xs Max at 512GB too.

If I get the 256GB, then I will break the cycle of getting the highest iPhone capacity model.

My opinion is that having a bigger storage capacity is basically to cater to users that like to snap pictures and keep tons of pictures & videos on their local storage for later viewing leisure. MNC/SME would usually utilize cloud services to manage their data storage requirement rather to have copies on individual employees personal devices. Cloud services also allow data sharing, on-line collaboration etc.

Does it make the phone faster? Not necessary because there are people that will hit the >90% storage very quickly. No matter 256GB or 512 GB, it won’t make the phone any faster if you only have 2GB of size available eventually, for heavy users (you will never get enough). You can’t even update certain apps OTA unless you clear up some memory.

Will the iOS system take advantage of the extra storage available? Mmm I don’t think so. I think very now and then hard reset the phone to clear the cache is a better solution if you find your iPhone laggy.

Anyway, if the price difference between 256GB vs 512GB is less than $100, I will go for 512GB as I am using about 100GB at this moment. Otherwise I am okay with 256GB model for another 2 Years till the next contract renewal and expecting new models being available.

Those people that need more than 256GB memory really have to think of a much more sustainable solution. Making back-up copies of that size is also a headache but if it’s important data or pictures to you, you have to think of a good solution to manage your requirement.

Getting iPhone Xmax

First time uncertain about storage size

In the past, bought all the maximum storage and no regret

This time, 512GB sound like a lot of storage - maybe a bit overkill

But currently not taking as many videos becoz 256GB can dry up too

Of course, take more videos need more storage, after some time, those video may become digital clutter

So how?

seriously not sure what you guys using that for..... 64gb alone for movies and music already last me whole day of streaming if i want too. (I normally download few movies from netflix, around 5gb music and watch it while at MRT and some manga)

Yes that’s something to ponder - maybe need to backup more regularly

But

Kid is preschool age - somehow some times - it’s nice to be able to see photos of kid form baby till now

Of course, there’s other ways to do it more effectively?

Another thing to consider - buying iPhone almost every year - so with plan $1700 for 1 year really sounds too expensive
