i would guess your reason for getting a 2.5" is because your case cant put anymore full sized hdd?

if thats really the reason i rather u sell off those 320gb and 500gb to make way for newer and bigger drives

According to WD's website, I see that the 2tb drive is the green drive. Firstly, it's 15mm, not many laptops are able to fit 15mm. And secondly, the performance if a green drive for laptop would definitely not be good. (but that's just me... and we need to see some benchmarks =D)

if for laptops most cant fit, esp those slim notebooks.

for those with a optical drive, can however take out the drive, replace with a HDD caddy in the shape of a optical drive, probably can since most of these has a tray about 13mm depth. 2mm overhead usually can slide thru the ODD slot. not 100% confirm, need to try ur model on site. and u need to get a caddy that fits ur notebook model. something like this:

unfortunately no. the usual models available around have their SATA header taken out, so unable to be attached to the usual laptop sata board ports. but maybe there's a model that still has an disk inside with sata header... not sure which one.

notebook 2.5" max thickness should be 9mm.
WD Green 2.5" hdd is 15mm. How to fit in?

Save more $$ to get the Samsung 850 EVO 2TB SSD :D

Buy the Seagate 2tb slim USB 3 from Amazon for USD89.

Open the case and use the HDD. I did that for my Intel NUC running 512gb M.2 SSD and 2tb 9.5mm HDD.

Do not buy WDC as the HDD is configured as a USB 3 port. No sata 3 port on HDD.
