4D3N in Phuket

Hello all,

I am going to Phuket for the first time this 19Oct - 22 Oct. Since it is a first time, I have some questions and hopefully to be answered here.

1) Car rental - I have a morning flight back on 22 Oct. As such, I need to return 2 hours earlier at about 7am. Are there any companies at the airport that are opened this early to take returns?

2) Day tours - I have seen some deals on deals.com.sg and wondering if I should get those first and not worry when I reach there. But some advise that heading there to get price comparison will be better and it's best to clarify any enquiries on the spot. Mr. Mark is an alternative too, I have emailed but no reply yet. Should I just decide when I get there?

3) Hotels - Leisure or sightseeing. I would want to balance both and overwhelmed by the choices. Currently looking for somewhere accessible to must-go areas (Cabaret show/Fantasea) but I don't want to miss out the seaviews too. Any personal experience and recommendations?

1- You can pre arrange with the car rental company if you returning earlier. I used David Car Rental for my last trip in sept (pretty good service and rate) and return early morning at 7.30am too.

2- Forget about getting for DEAL/ GOUPON etc, their deal sucks... just go patong along the street many for you to compare. But since you intend to drive, Y need a tour? unless you going island hopping?
Its pretty easy to navigate around Phuket. Just google those place you wanted to visit, pin down on you phone GPS and use you phone as guide when there. I managed to drive from phuket to krabi using my phone GPS easily

3- Honestly been to phuket like 6x, never been to Cabaret/Fantasea befere.. (many said its a waste of time). Personally I prefer to drive around and enjoy the view, relax and going to the nature places like water fall. caves

Wow, 6x and counting huh? Guess I'll do just that for the sightseeing since it's suppose to be fun. Reach Phuket and be spontaneous with the agenda, see what will happen. Will do my homework prior to setting off. By the way, are the roads safe to drive at night? I've read that the drivers there are really nice and shouldn't be a problem.

More or less decided on staying at Westin already, just pending my gf's green light since Cape Sienna is very tempting too.

road are pretty safe and easy to navigate. however can be rather dark at nigh even with street lamp
.. just drive slow and carefully.
Do a drive to Krabi or Sarasin Bridge if you have the time, nice drive along the way.
And since you going on weekend, dont miss the Phuket weekend market! Lot of good local food.
Can't really advice on hotel cos I alway go for cheaper decent hotel as to me its just a place to rest for the night
Not that hard to find a good hotel in phuket. If you prefer less crowded, stay at Kata or Karon beach..

Yap u can get a free map at airport.
Phuket is all about beaches, island hopping.
Shopping not that much

Can go for Elephant Ride & Water Rafting. I did the 5km water rafting with the kids and is very very fun. Took 1 hour journey.

My son was 11yo, niece 9yo, nephew 8yo. This is the tour which we booked via those booth along patong beach. Many ang mo go for the rafting and food was great. So, if you wanna book make sure you go with this tour and they will pick you up from hotel.

You may wanna go for Khai Island tour for your kid. Very interesting feeding the fishes at your feet and the kids love it. Is a half day tour. Less tiring for them. We did Khai Island tour the next day after water rafting.

Normally hotel does provide free parking space and its safe.
Can alway park in the mall if going shopping.
OK to parking along the road side as long as not illegal parking
