4D3N ar??

Nt alot of time...

Reco u to stay around Taipei Main Station instead of XMD..Cos XMD actually spend one night enough...And since u're more into shopping, staying near TMS would be easier for you on the day of departure.

Travel dates and flight timing so that we can help u better..

Effectively, only 3D3N only. So think he can barely get out of town.

didnt find XMD shopping very cheap... cosmos hotel is v convenient at TMS. or you can try nihao@taipei if you dont mind hostel & no frills, they have twin/double privates and cost about 30++sgd per pax per night, details here.

night markets you can go to: shilin, raohe, shida, tonghua etc
places to go- XMD, taipei 101, beitou/tamsui etc. if u wanna shop you can try east village near zhongxiaofuxing zhongxiaodunhua area, lots of shopping there too and cafes/restaurants.

if into shopping then should just go wufenpu right???
If you want to buy fashion clothing male and female, wufenpu is a good place. After that you can visit the night market nearby. I just been there today.

I was told that Shida has been getting a lot of complains about cleanliness, hence must of the food stalls owner have already moved out.

Yup true but he/she is asking about shopping. :D I went there with my GF last year and really like the clothings there.

Shida scale has shrunk. So do not place too much hope on it. First timer, no problem as they have yet seen it and will not know how big difference it is compared to last time.

hmmm good for food but not much for shopping but i guess since it's next to wufenpu... personally i feel the hujiaobing (pepper bun/biscuit) is so-so only.

i was really disappointed with shida when i went in April. didnt really feel like a night market but more like a couple of alleys of small stalls selling food and shops selling overpriced clothing/bags/accessories...

shida still got enough food and shops after the govt chased away quite a number of them?

i'd suggest ningxia nm if you like pig kidney ma you soup.

Food wise, it is quite limited. As for shopping, I find it pretty okay for a guy and my gf likes to shop in Shida but I guess it's pretty subjective as you can see from the previous comments.
