For friends who are on 1440p and below, do you see yourself going the 4K route in future?

If not, what are your main concern beside gfx card cost ?

Actually, what are the actual gains of 4k? You have to ask yourself.

For gaming I think the gains are negligible. You have mmore pixels to move and frame rates aren't the most desirable...

4k usually for content creators for that extra screen estate bah and for viewing content in 4k. Am happy gaming in 1080p :p

tbh sweet spot is 27-32" 1440p bah

1080p screen estate is around 23-24" best, 27"-32" 1080p is really takboleh.

Me a 4k monitor user.

At 27", sweet spot is 1440p gaming. 4k gaming at 27" is not much diff frm 1440p, maybe just slightly sharper images. Gameplay feels almost the same for 1440p and 4k.

4k only really hits the sweet spot for gaming at 32" screens or larger.

32" 4K need to see viewing distance also

My monitor like 20-30cm from me only, 27". I think that's enough liao, plant a 32" at that distance I will :s22:

I am currently a proud owner of the Yamakasi Catleap Q270 27' inch 2560x1440 S-IPS monitor which is overclocked to 120hz.

I have a 2nd Dell U2410 1920x1200 H-IPS as my secondary monitor.

To me, working on word/excel documents and browsing the web I like the extra real estate. Improves on my productivity.

However text and words can seem very small, straining my eyes sometimes. 4k will make it even worse. So I am pretty against 4k which will destroy my eyes while reading text.

Gaming however is a different story. 4k really does improve the gaming experience. Graphics will look more crisp and sharp provided the game supports those high res textures. Because 4k will still make the game look like a blurry mess of textures if the textures are not high res.

If you ask me, I rather get a high refresh rate monitor than a 4k monitor. Because the difference between 60hz and 120hz is unreal. Movement really feels so much more silky smooth than 60hz.

This is also on the assumption that your PC is capable of supporting the 4k and/or 120hz. Because if your PC is not powerful enough to support, there is no/little point in discussing further.

Anbody tried comparing Nvidia DSR 4k in 1080p to actual 4k screen? I am quite curious about the visual difference.

That's why a lot of users are drooling over the 27" 1440p 144Hz IPS Gsync monitor... It's a dream come true especially for content producer users like us where IPS matters more than anything to us. Before that most gaming high refresh rate screens are all TN :(

I would suggest wait until the gpu horse power catches up... i went 5760x1080 120hz during the gtx580 days... only in the 780ti days where i feel that gpus have caught up with that res/fps

Nope. Till gfx card mature even further.

The thing is scaling text is another issues on 4k. And i have a home theatre setup hooked onto my pc. Most of the bluray are still 1080p. Till they release the new standard of bluray at 4k, i dont intend to watch all my movies on a 4k display yet.

2nd thing is the gpu to push 4k now is near, but still not enough. Give it titanx and fury x to drive 4k. A single card will not easily push 60fps out. Till a single card that can churn out 75fps and above then i will consider changing to 4k.

1440p and 1600p res is here to stay.

For dell 25" 1440p is it a good choice ?
The ppi should be better ?

25inch ppi is too high. To some it may be ok. But to some it is not. Text and icons gets even smaller. 27inch is a so call nice 1440p ppi. And 32inch 1440p is the so call just nice 98ppi just like how 1080p on 24inch is.
