hi guys,

I am looking into 5k imac to replace my 24inch model and i am looking at the lower end models ($2688 & $2988).

Given that Apple had downsize the flash memory in the fusion drive, is the fusion drive worth the $300 upgrade (ignore the difference of the graphic card given)?

Yes it's still worth it.
But you should go for the flash drives instead.

i realize that if i opt for the $2688 option, then configure to 1TB fusion drive only cost $140.

The difference of $160 for graphic card doesnt justify...

I want to get flash drive but too ex for the upgrade... too bad it cant upgrade on my own...

Was at Sitex over the weekend and spotted that the Mid 2015 model going for only $2,000 and Late 2014 model going for $2,300. With OCBC credit cards, still get another 5% to 6% off the price.

I bargained with the xmm and she gave me another $80 off the Late 2015 model, so in the end I paid only $2109. The price of it last year was $3388! That's a massive discount and a great deal for a 5K retina display.

Apple usually slash their prices of previous generation Macs, so it feels stupid now to go for their latest models, especially when benchmark tests shows that the speed are not greatly improved.

Might want to check with Best Denki if the offer still stands. The new fusion drive with 24 gd of ssd sounds really sucky.

If you're considering previous models. Then consider a refurbished one from Apple Store instead.
