7700k idle temps: weird finding

im using a 7700k on a z270 asus maximus mobo and gtx1080ti. I've since moved 1 of 3 displays to the igpu (earlier disabled) and my CPU temps are now 5c lesser at idle. 45c to 40c.

to repro, I disabled igpu in BIOS and temps went back up to 45c idle.

any idea why this is happening ? if any, I would have thought enabling igpu would increase temps somewhat.

I'm on the latest bios.

izit enable/disable via bios setting iGPU Multi-Monitor?

i just tried but seems no diff for my setup 6700k z170 hero. but i only have 1 screen connected to 980ti...

Good shout. The reason for moving the 3rd display was to allow the gpu to power save. And now that it does, temps went down from 55c to 45c. I guess this is what caused the CPU temps to reduce in tandem.
