I don't intend to oc. So wondering if it is worth the extra cash for the k version.?

The speed increase from going k is substantial. However the cost of going k is substantial also due to motherboard.

Are you referring to the stock performance of k is significantly more than the non k?

if you need to touch anything that needs avx, can go for the K model bah 'cause it is 500mhz faster than the nonK at stock :crazy:

Feel free to go for 8500/8600 if the price difference isn't crazy. As long as you don't pay more then 30 bucks over the 8400, it's worth it as the difference between them is just a mere extra 200-400mhz clock speed.

If you intend to buy an locked i5 8400, do consider the r5 2600x.
