Hi. Me and my family would be reaching Taoyuan at 12noon, and departing at 10PM on the last day around October. It is our first time after 12 years coming back to Taiwan and since I am going to Taipei with my friends in August too, they decided not to overlap with my plans and to go outside Taipei instead. The main problem is, where should we go? I was thinking about going Cingjing but my friends will be going too, is it worthwhile to go twice? I don't mind going twice as what I had intended on mind was to give my parents a smooth relaxing trip out from work. And I could not plan the itinerary to be so hectic as my dad has problems walking a lot. Should we hire a driver to drive us around? My dad is rushing me to get the itinerary all planned out even though its an OCTOBER trip because he said October is the peak season (i'm not sure if he's just super kiasu or what...). Is there any less crowded touristy place to go? I need a headstart in researching on where I should go, I'm kind of in a loss right now :s22:.

Another nice farm to go would be Miaoli Flying Cow ranch, in fact I prefer there better than cingjing.

Hi! Would be going Taiwan on October and this is my itinerary. I do not want it to be too hectic as my dad has some problems in walking long distances so hope this would be good.

Day 1:
Arrive at Taoyuan at 12noon.
Go Cingjing by HSR to Taichung then cab up > Check in Misty Villa > Green Grass Grassland > Small Swiss Garden

Day 2:
Hehuanshan sunrise tour >Check In somewhere > Sun Moon Lake > Ita Thao Wharf by ferry > Rest

Day 3:
Sun Moon Lake ropeway > Formosan Aboriginal Village Town > Itashao market street

Day 4:
Sun Moon Lake > To Taichung (Spend a night there)

Day 5:
Taichung to Hualien (CAB)

Day 6:
Taroko Gorge

Day 7:
Hualien to Taipei by train > Taipei > Check In > Roam around somewhere (haven't decided)

Day 8:
Yehliu >Jiufen > Shifen

Day 9:
Find something to do before we go back on a 8PM flight.

OK, had to admit, when planning this, I got so confused with the transport especially (I have no idea about the accommodation, no idea about the luggages whether we will be tugging along when we watch the sunrise tour and all too LOL, gosh i feel so screwed). I pieced this itinerary by reading ALOT of blogs and also places which i really wanted to go like Taroko Gorge and Aboriginal Village. Do tell me if there's anything wrong with the planning! We can forgo Taipei if needed :)

You should be doing SML before heading to cingjing. Then go up cingjing and then travel towards hualien. You can tour taroko while traveling to hualien. This will save you a lot of unnecessary trips. Use Google maps to help you do the planning. It can even advice travel time and what public transport to take.

Your whole itinerary planning is quite off, wasting a lot of time travelling here and there.

I would suggest...

Day 1 - Landed in Taoyuan, HSR to Taichung and overnight there. Plenty to see, walk, buy and eat in Taichung. I would suggest spent 2 nights in Taichung.

Day 3 - Morning after breakfast check out and proceed to SunMoonLake, overnight there, plenty of activities to do there. Can ride bicycle round the lake, take ferry on the lake or take cable car.

Day 4 - Morning after breakfast check out and go Cingjing, overnight there, stars glazing at night, watch sunrise at Hehuanshan, come back minsu to eat breakfast and check out.

Day 5 - From Cingjing > Hehuanshan > Wuling > Taroke Gorge is on the same road passing many mountains, overnight in Hualien.

Day 6 - Hualien to Taipei via train.

------------------

SunMoonLake round the lake is 33km, all the activities are around the lake, usually is a day trip but if you wish to see more, overnight there is the best.

Cingjing/Hehuanshan/Wuling, all the attractions are within the distance of 35km. Spent 1 night is more than enough.
