It is summer and many of you are going to Japan to view the fireworks. I thought I introduce a firework that is an extra bit more meaningful
Light Up Nippon was a project started by a guy in 2011 after the 3.11 Earthquake and Tsunami for those areas in Tohoku that had been devastated by the damage. This year will be the 4th year of the festival and it will be start in various coastal towns in Tohoku on 11 August 7pm sharp, as well as Sapporo in Hokkaido (who will hold it one day earlier on 10 Aug).
As all the fireworks come from donations all over Japan, it cannot rival the famous firework celebrations in Tokyo or Yokohama, but hopefully it will one that is more meaningful to the spectators of the show.
If you will like to find out more about the event, do go to their website
LIGHT UP NIPPON
where you find out where are the locations as well as how you can even make a donation for the event.
