A5 EXPLODE

Just a few moments ago, my father's SAMSUNG GALAXY A5's battery suddenly caught fire when he left it on the shelf. It wasnt even charging!
The battery is not external and cant be removed. The whole battery expanded and the screen and backing got dislodge.
The phone has been completely burnt through, and even the nearby Singapore dollar notes melted!

There were no warning signs, imagine the damage it would have caused if he had been using it at that moment, or if it took place in the night when we are all asleep and unaware!
In addition, the sim card has been damaged beyond repair. We can't even identify it in the mess of melted metal! This has added on a layer of inconvenience above all else!

We went to hello shop at singtel and the samsung rep told us that it is a three year old phone and maybe the battery is old so thats why will explode.

Pls post pictures. Samsung may contact you to not upload pictures or face legal actions but do not bow to pressure. Make sure to let Samsung bleed!

you noticed the backing got dislodged by the swollen battery and still using it? you should power it off immediately and send it for repair. swollen battery is dangerous

No.. the explosion/swollen battery caused the dislodged.

Just to update. Samsung collected back the phone for investigation and they advised not to post pictures.. not sure how it happened too but my dad just full charged the phone and left it in the cupboard..

Do you remember which year the phone is manufactured? The model is officially available Dec 2014 which is even before Note 7 in 2016.

1 is the very first A5 the other one is A5 (2016) model

I'm using A5 2017.

It feels like threatening to me somehow lol.

Things will feel more fishy to me if I receive such an "advice".
