Acne treatments are becoming more popular as people strive to simplify their lives. Emu oil has been used for centuries as a healing aids by the aboriginal population of Australia. Studies suggest that pure emu oil does have some anti-inflammatory properties when applied topically, but there have not been enough scientific evidence to support the claim that using emu oil will clear up acne. Anecdotal evidence, however, suggests that emu oil acne treatments do lessen acne redness and swelling.
Here’s how:
1. Pull your hair back off of your face and secure it with hair elastics, clips or a headband.
2. Wash your face with emu oil soap. Read the label to make sure the soap actually contains natural emu oil. Rinse your face thoroughly.
3. Pat your skin dry with a clean towel. Do not rub your skin with the towel as this can further inflame your face and make the acne spread.
4. Put a drop or two of pure emu oil onto a clean cotton swab, and dab it on your pimples. Do not dip the cotton swab back into the bottle of emu oil. If the swab dries out, toss it in the trash and put a few drops of oil on a fresh one. Do this every morning and again just before bed.
