Even if you scratch, its ok as the coating is inert and will just pass out if consumed. PTFE coatings are quite durable and can last quite some time if handled properly. Like not using metal spatulas to fry, not rinsing with cold water immediately after cooking, not overheating the pan and not using abrasive scrubs to scrub the pans.

lots of fearmongering to get views and attention. That's the way the world works nowadays.

Contemporary non stick pans are safe unless you overheat them. If you oil isn't smoking, you're ok.
PTFE is inert even when ingested. What you want to avoid are the thermal decomposition products.

But use and fry rice eh? Add cold rice the pan temp drop then stick liao?
Won't stick if you heat it to the correct temp initially.

Basically heat to the point where small splashes of water onto the pan will immediately become balls and roll around on the pan. This is the time to add oil, wait a while more, then start cooking.

You can google Leidernfrost effect to understand more.

Once it has lost its non stick properties then it's time to change. Normally, the non stick layer can last for a year or so. After that, it will continue to shed it's coating until can see the bare aluminium. Where does those coating go? The food of course. It costs about $30.
