Advice and tips on DIY PC

Hi all, im trying to DIY my own desktop, currently looking at price range from 800~1.1k. i did some looking through the internet. Things im trying to use on the desktop : dota2/ SC2 / CS:GO / Diablo3 / photoshop / 3d-max.

Here is my setup, although missing afew parts.

CPU+MB : MSI Z87-G45 + i5 4440
RAM : 1600 KINGSTON HYPERX 8gb
GPU : SAPPHIRE HD 7750 O.C 1GB
SSD : Kingston V300 120GB
HDD : Seagate 1 TB SATA
Power Supply : Seasonic G-series 550w

What casing do you guys recommend?

The motherboard is for overclocking which ur CPU can't do..

Crucial 8gb ddr3 ~ $90
Plextor m5s 128gb ssd ~ $130 or Crucial m500 240gb ssd ~ $155 (amazon)
Wd blue 1tb ~ $76
Zotac gtx750 ~ $169
Samsung oem drive ~ $21
Fsp aurum s 500w ~ $89
Fractal design arc mini r2 ~ $120
Win7 64 oem ~ $115

$1108 buy and DIY @ tradepac ask for discount, if not sure how to DIY can bring to gs shop ask him help u assemble @ a fee

thanks for the comment, but lets say i wan to do some upgrading in the future, which part would i be upgrade first?


For your budget, use mATX board instead and buy Sharkoon casing. Around $55 only for their mATX casings

can use sharkoon instead ot the fractal arc mini?

If u wan to save some $ and get budget case can consider coolermaster n200

Even so, you would need to up your budget if you wanna play upcoming high end games... GTX 750 simply wun cut it at ultra.

Gtx750 can play Titan fall high settings no issue..

Use ASRock's XFastRAM RAM Disk application to create RAM Disk for Photoshop acceleration.

Thanks alot for the list, but i was wondering, is the ODD important? can i make do without it?

You can actually haggle with Tradepac to match the pricing from mynextcom.. Try to go slightly lower to test them, rebound back if not possible, but do not pay more than what the cheapest shop is offering

Hey, did you manage to get the desktop in the end?
Currently, thinking of setting up a desktop with the same price range and purpose.
