Will be hiring a maid for the first time mainly is to take care of 2nd child. Any tips or guide to hire maids in sg? I browse through, looks like jforce like one of the top agencies. Most likely getting a Burmese maid. Some questions I like to know are:

What's the main role of maid agency?
And is choosing maid agency as important as choosing the maid?
What is Placement fees?
Replacement fees?
Employment pass?
Insurance and levies
Security deposit of $5000 to mom?

1.Help to job match between the fdw and the employer.
2.Nope, it all depends on luck the attitude of the fdw you get.
3.)Cannot recall exactly but should be emplacement fees.
4.depends on the package you signed, if you dun like the initial fdw that you choose, they allow you to switch another one.
5.work permit fees
6.mandatory to buy for all fdw incase, touch wood.
7.in case u all or ur non-malaysian fdw get into trouble with the law.
Actually all ur qns you can ask the agency right since you are the customer.

My worst experience is with Burmese maid, one stole my clothes, the other one had terrible attitude problem.

Best is don't hire maid if possible, get in laws or parents to help out.

Esp when kids are small, best to trust them with their grandparents.

Choosing the right maid if u really need one more important than agency.

If u choose the right fit one, can get along, she csn work for you for very long.

hire a Filipino maid, I have had language barrier problems with other Nationalities, Filipino maids are much more English spoken

its not comprehensive but i think it served as a pretty good guide - things like bringing your child with you, reading up on rights as an employer and hers as an employee and checking work history and transfer. hope this helps any future readers and first timers in hiring a helper.
