Hi,

I'm an aspiring investor and would like to ask your opinions on how and where to start. Some background, I'm currently a local student with some (maybe a little, compared to ppl here) knowledge on finance and my financials (part-time job) will only allow for low-cost investing as I'm still studying. But, I'm hoping my early start will help me out in the future.

Thanks for taking the time to read this and any advice given, is much appreciated!

Best advice at your age?
Don't invest first. Save up an emergency fund equivalent to 2 years of your expenses. After that, set up another marriage fund. By then you won't have anymore money to lose. Trust me you are gonna lose lots of money to pay school fees on these investments. You better have an emergency fund.

Good advice but not great Partly TS did not mention current age and what age should he/she start can work. Also did not say how the amount of funds he wish to invest and the current source of income (pocket money from parents?)

What a broad question.

What do you want?

Grow your capital?

Preserve your capital?

Long term or short term?

Any short term goals?

Current financial status?

think about it

if you have 10K, you save in bank or buy SG Govt Bond,
after 1 year, you still have 10K plus interest.

however, most youngster (i assume only)
got 1K, will buy 1.2K of items....
after 1 year, only have unpaid credit cards bill.

thus, the first group is already in a better position financially.
