Hi Bros
Would like to seek some advice on choosing computer parts for a gaming pc.
I have a budget of 1k-1.1K and will not be doing any overclocking. I will be playing games like BF4/Starcraft/GTA5.
Went to fuwell (at sim lim) today and got a quote, i did some research and here are the parts i shortlisted

CPU + Mobo : Intel i3 -4160 with Asus H97-Plus mono ($348)
GPU : Gigabyte Windforce GTX750TI (2GB) ($275)
RAM : Corsair Vengeance 1600 8GB ($115)
Harddrive : Samsung EVO 250 GB SSD ($179)
PSU : Coolermaster G550M 550W ($99)
Chasis : Coolermaster N300 ATX Casing ($75)

Estimated cost : $1091

Will not be getting any dvd drive as i will be installing the OS via USB stick

One thing im concerned is if the i3 processor is sufficient for gaming and if it would bottleneck my GPU, i could upgrade to i5 4460 but this would cost additional $100. i could also go with AMD FX 6300 but fuwell dosent sell AMD processors

Would like to seek advice you guys have to modify my build. Thank you!

Hmm since budget is a concern... my two cents, but please wait for the pros for more solid recommendations...

1. Get i5 + B85 or H81 mobo. Don't think you need a H97 mobo. i5 cause GTA V seems to be more CPU intensive. Changing to this combo will cost <$100.

2. Consider getting your GPU, RAM, SDD from Lazada. There's the GSS sale starting 19 May. They sometimes do have very good deals and coupons such as $20 off $100.

a) As of now, Gigabyte Windforce GTX750Ti is $258 on lazada. There's Zotac GTX750ti on sale at $197 too.

b) for RAM, can get Crucial 8GB DDR3 ram for about $89. If you are concerned about aesthetics, there's Kingston HyperX Fury 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 1866 CL10 going for $105.

c) for SSD, can get a more budget friendly model like Crucial BX100 250GB for $163. If not, wait for those coupon or deals. Some bro's got their Samsung EVO 850 250GB SSD about $140-$160.

3. Please get a HDD. 1TB WD Blue for about $70 will do. Your 250GB is not gonna be enough. GTA V is already about 65GB in size.

[Update: just saw Jian's post, solid config, would add in a 1TB HDD to that and do consider purchasing from Lazada if your DIYing yourself]

Thanks for all the advice bros. will definitely consider buying from lazda. Actly since I can buy from lazda should I go with AMD FX6300 for my processor? But I'm wondering which mobo is good to go with this processor?

Hi Jian19. May I know why u say that? Reviews online say fx6300 provide good value for money

Not in SG and AM3 mobos are going extinct. Even new FX8370 and FX8370E are exotic here. Thing is if you get manage to get AM3 mobo, chances are if you ever need to RMA will have to wait a very long time.

but i have one more remaining qs, your build's GPU u recommend Sapphire 280 dual X but i was thinking of going for Gigabyte Windforce GTX 750TI since it has better cooling temp. any idea what's the diff bwtn these 2 GPUs?

If budget allows go for i5 instead and these days you don't really need an optical drive. In case you need one in future just get an external USB DVDRW or BluRay Writer.

two things just came to mind:

1.regarding the PSU (fsp hexa) would it be better getting CM Elite 550W V2 ($70) since coolermaster is a more 'reputable' brand? i havent heard of the fsp brand before, also the psu i noticed is not a modular psu, is it important to get a modular psu and pay the extra $$ ?

2.Regarding the SSD is liteon a reliable brand? or is it the best ssd for my price point? wondering if it might be better to get a more reputable brand like samsung

its all about budget

FSP powersupply is more reputable then Coolermaster, they made oem psu for various brand as well

modular psu is usually for easier cable management a decent one cost between $80-120 either semi modular or full

Lite on is another oem coy that helps Plextor made ssd, the one i recommend is the same as Plextor m6s

Samsung evo 850 is @ $50 more, u wont notice performance issue unless u do a benchmark.

oh i realise that pctheme dosent sell Corsair Carbide Spec 02 anymore according to their price list. only left corsair spec 03 orange ($89). should i for this? or go for the cm n300 ($68)?

UPDATE ** : decided i would take Jian19's recommended build but changing the chasis to coolermaster n300

CPU + mobo : i5-4460 + Asrock h81m hds ~ $338
RAM : G.skill 8gb ddr3 ~ $87
GPU : Sapphire 280 dual x ~ $265
PSU : Fsp hexa 550w ~ $68
Chasis : Coolermaster N300 ~ $68
Storage : Lite on 256gb ssd ~ $149
+ WD Blue 1TB ~$75

Approx total : ~ $1050
Will probably DIY myself and will be heading to Sim Lim(PcTheme) tomorrow to get the parts! (Lazada has delivery time of ~2 weeks, too long) And thank you to everybody who have commented and given advice!

Wish me luck!

Lazada does not have a delivery time of 2 weeks.

Most of the items that you will be buying will most likely reach in 3 days.

At least that's the case for me, when I order from local sellers. Don't need to lug the case And barang barang home by yourself also. :)
