Hi all, have come up with a list below for my new gaming rig (<$2k). Seeking advice if rig below is ok for playing games like bf1/titanfall2 at high settings. Main issue is should i get the 1060 6gb or 1070 twin fan? Is the difference in price worth it for the 1070? Thanks!

MB: Asus h270m-plus + i5 7500
RAM: Corsair LPX (8GB x 2)
GPU: Zotac gtx 1070 8gb twin fan or 1060 6gb twin fan?
SSD: samsung 250gb
HDD: WD 1TB blue
PSU: Corsair 650x80+gold
Casing: NZXT S340 Elite

What resolution do you game at? How many monitors?

What is the price difference right now? I haven't been keeping track of local 1070 prices, only online ones. The recommendation depends on the prevailing price at the time. Some days it can be a good deal, then the next day it becomes overpriced AF (or just goes out of stock).

Also, don't go for the i5-7500. The price/performance sweet spots for kaby lake are in the G4560, i5-7600K, or to stretch a little, i5-7400. Do consider Ryzen as well, solid price/perf.

1080p, 1 monitor. Difference around 100-120.
Which ryzen chip do you recommend? They're ok for gaming purposes too right? Sorry, havent been keeping myself up to date with ryzen.
Thanks!

Sounds like pricing is adjusting back to normal. In that case, if budget is not an immediate concern, go for the 1070. It is overkill for 1080p 1monitor gaming right now, but it should serve you much longer before needing to be upgraded.

The R5 1600 with a mild overclock (something like 3.75GHz all cores at <1.3Vcore, very safe and easy to hit, can use stock cooler) will be a good choice for you. If you're not pushing limits on the OC, any B350 motherboard will do.

Ryzen 1600 is really the most value-for-money CPU right now, with 6 cores/12threads and option to overclock as mentioned above. I've researched quite long online on i5 7400 - 7600K in comparison with Ryzen 1400-1600X, and my conclusion was for gaming purposes at high/ultra settings, i5 7500 or Ryzen 1500X is enough given your 1060 graphic card, but as mentioned above if possible you should get a 1600 if you want maximum value for your spending (Processing speed, longevity, budget).
