really appreciate alot for the feedbacks, i've learned quite a few (still need to learn more =D)

and...

@_@ yes, after doing some reading, and pondering for a while...

i5 quad with amd7850/gtx650 rig lor ^^;
then i will just add a cheap dvd burner, a wifi card, get a 2nd hand 19' monitor, and a new win8.1 OS, probably will still be able to keep my overall budget still within 1k(i hope...)

WILL POST UPDATES AFTER PURCHASE!! =D

one last question 0_0;
if say, i expand my budget a bit and get 2X4gb 1866MHz ram instead... doable within budget of 1k?

You wont see any performance jump at all if you are on Intel rig.

It is not worth the money spent.

second hand no receipt intel cpu and asus mobo

as mentioned, i saw this posting selling -> second hand (used 1year) intel cpu and asus mobo, NO RECEIPT, claimed to have 3 years warranty from ban leong for cpu at least;

is this good to go? if anything goes wrong, will i be able to claim warranty?

i saw some bad reviews about asus warranty service though, a bit complicated...

Pray that you are lucky. So far i only been through 2 Asus agent, Ai-lian and avertek. So far no complaints from me.

Normally for me, I try to find USED cpu and Brand new mobo. I always have issues with mobo. Unless receipt is given then i buy 2nd mobo. I always trust on receipt.
