Some simple examples:
1) POSB Saver Invest only invests in Nikko AM STI ETF. POSB Regular Savings Plan allows you to choose some unit trusts to purchase..

2) OCBC Blue Chip Investment Plan allows you to invest in any of the 18 share counters they listed on their website.

Once you start the plan, an amount will be deducted from your bank account and buy the shares/ETFs on a fixed day every month.

It is relatively liquid. You can cancel it and the bank will sell the shares for you. I'm not sure if it will wait till the next month or so before returning the money into your account - you gotta check with the bank.

The Regular Savings Plans (RSPs) are designed for long term investments, especially those who intend to invest via the dollar cost averaging (DCA) approach of putting in a fixed amount of money per month into buying securities. The securities are bought (on a bank determined date each month) from the market and held on the participant's behalf by the executing bank. You do not determine the day and price at which the securities are bought. If redeemed, the securities are sold (on a bank determined date each month) on the market on the participant's behalf by the executing bank. You do not determine the day and price at which the securities are sold. These plans are simply not designed for "short term buy and sell" (ie trading).
