[Advice needed] Budget rig for light usage

Planning to overhaul my current system which I believe is close to 10years already which is getting wonky, sometimes cannot boot up
i5-3470
8GB DDR3 RAM
GTX 660

Budget wise, hope can keep around $800. Usage purely for web browsing and watch video 1080P. Maybe will try to game on dota2. So I believe a 5600G will more than suffice for my needs? Or is getting a CPU with a dedicated GPU more economical (I guess it's not? Given that that GPU prices has been on an uptrend)?

The CPU+MOBO+RAM I shortlisted are below, need recommendations for PSU and Casing. Planning to reuse my HDD and SSDs. But feel free to recommend any HDD and SSD too, I'll see if I want to buy a new one too.

There might be some price cuts for Ryzen soon as well as the Black Friday discounts. Suggest you hold off until BF.

If you're buying from Amazon, try to make sure its from Prime. That way, really easy to return things back to them. Even after you have opened them you can return if not satisfied.


If you can, use a Ryzen3 with the built in GPU. I am using that, not bad. It's for my mini-ITX pc I use to watch 4K videos to my TV. Ram is really cheap on Amazon. Mainboard, try to get Gigabyte Ultra Durable.

if u buy from those local sls shops on shopee, then will have local distro warranty. the same cannot be said for parts bought from amazon. for ram and mobo i would say better to buy local if concerned about warranty, unless export sets cost at least 25% less then can consider. with the less than $10 difference between amazon and local for the mobo, id say it may be better to go local. as for ram, may be possible to hoot used local set ram for lower than amazon price on carou, some more usually will have lifetime warranty so should be safe.
