Are you really calling us selfish because we're recommending term-to-65 instead of term-to-99 or whole-life? That's... kind of desperate.
Nope, I'm saying people like you have a very opinionated view of such planning.
If you think out of the box, you will realise that term to 100 or whatever age you're comfortable with past 65 is one of the best ways for legacy planning. (We have discussed this before in another thread found here http://forums.hardwarezone.com.sg/86556841-post56.html)
Even at an investment return of 5% P.A, it cannot outperform a level term till age 100 if you're talking about legacy planning. And that is if you pass on at age 100, which is unlikely. Truth is you'll probably go at 80+, which works to the favor of a term plan.
Also, you don't take into consideration what the person's wants actually are, sure you'll be paying more for term till age 100, but if he wants to leave something behind for his NOK what would you recommend otherwise? STI and Term till 65 as per what you've been preaching?
Edit: Made a mistake in %.
