Advise on Education

I have a friend who recently took up a partime degree course and graduated after 1 year. My question is are these degrees equivalent to those offered by established institution like NUS. Is it really that easy to get a degree. Besides my friend highest standard is only PSLE. And his PT degree cost him 20k++.
And in another discussion with another degree holder his opinion was that Degree is easier than O levels for adult learner. Appreciate some advise as i am in my late 50s and am considering a degree education.

A part time degree and from a private university is definitely not on grounds as a full time one offered by a renown university... it is nothing more than a supplement to the degree/certificates you already own, say if the company need a graduate with a business degree and a bit of computing knowledge, a guy with a full time degree with part time degree/majors/minors is what they are looking for, not one with part time degree only but if you don't have a degree, a part time degree would probably be better than whatever you have

Depends on the uni... if it's one of those "easy" unis (*cough* murdoch) a full-time one also not really recognised. From the way you put it, I think it's pretty worthless unless the HR don't do its due diligence...

UOL does not offer 1 year degrees even with exemptions; at most exempt year 1 stuff and end up doing 2 years, which costs around 14k-ish (SIM + UOL + Exam fees).

20k++ in one year? simi degree so short??

anyways, this is what my uni lec is trying to say. some see short term gains for private degree, perks like shorter time frame to complete the degree / "cheaper" cost, etc instead of SUSS (Unisim)

end up, the "cheaper" is not realli that cheap if u take into account the amount of time and mod u r studyin while the degree may not be even recognized by HR personnel like my lec himself.
