Hi i am looking for a laptop for normal usage. Just for work and school projects. Not for gaming. Any reviews on Aftershock P-13 helix? Is this laptop good? Seem cheap for its specs. Or should i just stick to Asus Zenbook? Looking at Zenbook UX330UA. Budget is ard $1.5k. If there is any other laptop to recommend please do so. Preferably the latest i7 and min of 8gb ram. Thank you

it also depends on how powerful you need to laptop to be. aftershock p13 has a config with the gen 8 i7 which is a quad core variant that boosts up to 4ghz.

hi, laptop noob here so...
Also non-gamer, just use to do regular office work and maybe photoshop and video editing, and watching movie files or streaming movies on my big screen tv. Is 8th gen i7 without GPU OR 7th gen i5 with nvidia 1050 4gb better? Was looking at aftershock p13 and m15 series laptops.

i would say getting that i5 will be better than since that i7 is a u processor, which is slightly a limiting your capabilities in photoshop and video editing.

7th gen, i5 with 1050ti.
Is a much more balanced system and would be better for your needs.

A generation up might yield better battery life and the usual x % increase in performance per gen that’s about it.

Add on. If it is a 7th gen i5 quad core - denoted by a MQ or HQ - often found in Aftershocks - then close both eyes. Go for that.

An i7 U processor is just a slightly faster i5 U in many respects

again, it depends on your weight requirements. those 2 laptops belong in completely different class. ultrabook vs gaming.
the mx15 will definitely perform better but it may not make a difference in the use case. does your video editing program have gpu acceleration?

Not for gaming, why considering Aftershock?

Because aftershock doesnt just sell gaming laptops like the P-13 that TS mentioned...? Lol. The P-13 is a ultrabook with egpu capabilities, not a gaming laptop.

I'm looking to get an ultrabook this year too, but can't find any p-13 reviews. The P-13 only offers 2 CPU choices and 1 of them is i7-8550U. I think they are currently the only 1 offering 8th Gen intel.

The plus point is they are highly customised, allows me to upgrade ram (1 stick or 2 sticks) and add on additional HD.

Think hardwarezone has it. P13 is interesting cause of the eGpu option. Making it best of both worlds. Portable and light
