not sure what kind of aesthetic ts is looking for, since all the parts are from different manufacturers and managing all the rgb sounds like its going to be a pita :s13:

There isn't an extensive list of options that Aftershock is offering, so it's not like i have the flexibility of going for same manufacturers even if i wanted to?

Basically what I have shortlisted are basically the best RGB options which look great (to my knowledge) which they have provided in their list

Hey Ragna, thanks for making the effort to compile the SL list for comparison! It provided better clarify on how much more i would be paying.
But ya, have expected a significant price difference buying from Aftershock vs if i DIY from SL. But Aftershock offers 3 years onsite pickup, which would be really great and convenient for me getting a system at this price
If they offer 3yrs on site then maybe it's not a bad deal for you.

If I remembered correctly, there was a user feedback in another AS thread the expected pick up and return will be approximately 7 to 10 business day (not inclusive of weekend).

TS need to take into account for the expected downtime if any support required during this pandemic situation. Hopefully the support is improving now.

If this is mainly for a gaming pc I guess it won't be too concern as it won't affect the productivity usage.

Lets face it. Buying a pc in 2021, nobody just use a pc for 1 thing. You will eventually do more than 1 thing in that pc. May be critical for work, for zoom calls, for games and the list goes on.

For AS pick up onsite is not really something as good as you might think. Yes convenient. But the downtime is really excruciating.

The time you actually wait for them to pick it up from you, troubleshoot and bring back to you, probably gonna take a long time. That is what you have to deal with.

If you have a laptop during this down time. Then perhaps that is fine.

Branded PC like Lenovo downtime won't be that as long as AS.
As AS uses DIY components so some components need to send for RMA
which will take weeks or even months.

Branded PC wise like Lenovo Legion, if hardware is faulty within 3 - 5 business days.
They can come over to service the PC but that is if there are parts available.

This TS. Take note. Same goes to my friend whom has this issue with AS. Parts rma need weeks to rma. If its just normal issues like pc overheating or thermal paste dries up, it can take about 1 week turnover.

Yup. The 3 yrs onsite pick-up is appreciated but I have too heard and read about aftershock's "quality" after service and the long turnaround time as well..... So i know it's not ideal as well

Unless you DIY and bring down the parts to the individual manufacturer for RMA, there's no really good alternative around that. But when going back to office becomes a norm, it would be equally hard to find time to head down on a weekday as well.

Imo

Stick with the Asus board. Strix F is top end of the Strix range.

280mm AIO is good enough

Don't get Aorus gen 4 SSD. It's a entry spec which read/write at much slower speeds than the Samsung SSD. I used one before, in real life usage no noticeable difference from top end Gen 3 NVMe SSD.

Price is of course high. It's this kind of price that helps Aftershock do things like expand to Australia. Take it as to support local business lor..

Personally, I feel there is no reason to go with the Ultracore series, unless you want them to do your custom water cooling. In this case, you are clearly just using conventional AIO cooler. There are supposedly "Ready to ship" systems that cost less on AS site. 6K for this is way overpriced man. I am not sure why it is now so expensive because at around March/ April this year, I was playing around with the Ultracore series to see if I want to get a custom cooling solution. Even with a RTX 3090 and custom cooling solution, it was around 6+ K, though I opted for the lowest end SSD config, no additions and with no Windows software. A lot of the add on like case fan is way overpriced. So I agree with most here, to avoid getting this setup. It is not worth the price. From what I see, these are the main culprits increasing your cost,
Cooling: WATERCOOLING : NZXT Kraken Z73 360mm
Primary SSD: 1TB Samsung 970 EVO PLUS M.2 SSD
Secondary SSD: 2TB Samsung 870 QVO 2.5" SSD
HDD: 3TB TOSHIBA 7200RPM HDD
Custom Cable Sleeves: LIAN LI STRIMER PLUS RGB
Every add on or upgrade you do are going to be very expensive. Generally things like Secondary SSD and HDD, I would recommend you opt out of it and buy it yourself because they charge you a lot for it.

Thanks for the information! it has been certainly useful in eyeballing the culprits
