"We are proud to partner with Akitio to be the first to offer the AkiTiO Node External Graphics Card Thunderbolt 3.0 Enclosure to the Singapore market! Desktop-Class Graphics on your Laptop!"

Limited to 15 units**

Anyone knows much about External Graphics Card Modules? Really keen in getting one and it seems like this is the best bet for an "Affordable Razer core".

Are you the seller lolz. Anyway for tb3 port, most of the time only available in high end gaming laptop. So why still need to buy egpu enclosure if you already own a high end gaming laptop.

Until the time when manufacturers make tb3 as common as usb a port in a notebook, i doubt egpu will fly off the shelves.

The performance is a big degradation when compared to installing the cards on desktop due to speed difference between pcie and thunderbolt.

Check out this article - http://www.tested.com/tech/457440-theoretical-vs-actual-bandwidth-pci-express-and-thunderbolt/

Bottom line, not worth it for the price. If you get a 1080ti, expect around gtx 1060 performance.

The article you linked does not mention the thunderbolt 3 performance which is the interface present on the akitio node. Nevertheless there will be a performance drop as compared to internal desktop gpu performance.

However the external gpu solution is not meant to replace existing internal interfaces. Perhaps you missed the point of the tb3 interface as well. Specifically meant for laptops with tb3 ports.

Tb3 not necessarily present on higher end models only. Look at the aftershock p13 laptop. Price starts at $1265. Hardly a high end price. And you can connect a powerful egpu to game on it.

Totally Agree. I currently have a AKiTiO Node fitted with a 1070 that I use with my XPS 13 that I got for $1100. Its quite a surreal experience actually haha.

So you spent more than 2k to game on a 13" with a performance around desktop 1050ti or 1060....shiosk meh?
