Alienware 34" monitors

Hi

appreciate if anyone can give feedbacks on the 2 models AW3418DW $1449 & AW3420DW $1599

My usage will be for productivity (mainly excels & browsers) & gaming. Split screen 34" seems better than 27" screens. Gaming mostly dota until cyberpunk comes out.

I have seen a few VA 34" panels, but i cant put a finger to a effect i observed. Mainly in excel i notice the numbers and words are rather pixelated.. not sure if its a panel issue or resolution issue. IPS works so far for me.

Brand preference so far is dell (not die hard fan), can last 4-5 years for me each. previous experience LG die 1 day after warranty end (2 years)

Any feedback or alternative recommendations welcomed. thanks!

you may also consider Acer Predator 34"

They are using the same panels as Dell AW if not wrong

But its really personal preference.

I prefer IPS as well

Am using Acer Predator X34P for half a year now. Also do a fair bit of work in excel, PowerPoint, etc and gaming. Everything has been good with this monitor which comes with 3-year on site warranty.

Was using Dell’s U3415W previously. Well worth upgrade and do check it out too.

AW3420DW newer model better specs

think only diff is that it can run 120hz native rather than overclock. u can't run it any higher than that.

i'm currently using AW3418DW and its pretty much awesome. only thing is that the model was released few yrs back so i rather u wait for a much newer model with better specs (like 144hz) or explore other brands like ACER predator IPS panels and see if its a better deal.

Agreed. I know of some users who can't hit 120Hz overclock on their panels and max they can get is 115Hz. My set is fine at 120Hz. Usually if it does not fully support at 120Hz, you will get random flickering which is damn annoying. Really depends on your luck. I hope Alienware releases a similar panel (IPS) with HDR and a faster refresh rate like 144Hz or 165hz. The current one from Asus is just stupidly priced for HDR and 200Hz. I hope to see prices come down once ultrawide HDR >144Hz panels get more common.

If you GPU can push 34", 120hz constantly then get the $1599 model lo, if cannot then no point spending $100 more.

No regrets no far. As for the pixel issue, I've never really encountered them before, maybe my eyes not so sharp ah.

You can consider waiting for newer models since this model is alr quite old, but be prepared to pay a bomb. If I rmb correctly, Asus has 34inch 144hz out alr, but I rmb the price is crazy.

There's also XIAOMI 34" coming out, not sure when it will reach Singapore, prices should be cheaper.

just to check, dug up september IT show brochure $1099 pricing is for AW25". AW34" is $1799. Can I ask which shop you got it from? must standby to grab on the last day last 2 hours one ah?
