Alright, got a couple qns.
1) So now there are two ways to get to alishan tourist area, which is the alishan station. first is by direct bus from chiayi town and second is to take the railway train to fenchihu and take a bus to alishan station from there?
2)Fenchihu worth going?

3)At alishan station, you can still take the railway to other areas such as shenmu and chaoping, are these the same as the train from chiayi town to fenchihu? If its the same then no point taking train to fenchihu.

4) Do what??? is it just walk A LOT,see scenery and lepak? I been to cingjing, is it the same?
5) Best is stay near alishan station? Any recommendations? Need a space for 5 ppl.

Any response is greatly appreciated.....!!!!

2)Fenchihu worth going? => not worth to my opinion, small town. Can't beat Jiu Fen or even any of the night market in Taipei.

3)At alishan station, you can still take the railway to other areas such as shenmu and chaoping, are these the same as the train from chiayi town to fenchihu? If its the same then no point taking train to fenchihu. => Alisan recreation park inside is their own railway. nothing link to outside. So you reach the main entrance, that station is another train bringing you within the park.

4) Do what??? is it just walk A LOT,see scenery and lepak? I been to cingjing, is it the same? => enjoy the cool weather. see giant trees lor, haha, and be prepared to be swamp with PRC, they scream and shout , whole forest can hear them shouting to each other. No peace....

5) Best is stay near alishan station? Any recommendations? Need a space for 5 ppl. => Not much place to eat. Unless you have private transport to go around.

Depending on what you want to do. As for me, I love trekking, I trekked in Alishan and Fenchihu. There are many trails in Alishan and Fenchihu which lead to some mountains. Also from Fenchihu-Rueili trail.

If you don't like trekking, then drop it or make a short visit. I spent 2 nights at Alishan and 3 nights at Fenchihu last June. And never regret.

Good luck.

Will be staying at fenchihu for a night next week. Wonder if it is possible to see sunrise from there? If not, where do you think is the next nearest place from fenchihu to see sunrise? Any idea, tia!

Fenchihu sunrise for this month is around 630am. The best place to see sunrise and sunset is along Fenchihu-Rueili Trail. I will not recommend you to go there to see unless u r a good hiker. Other than these places, I have no commend.
