Not to be confused with the Kindle Paperwhite or Kindle Voyage:
Amazon updated their Kindle e-readers lineup with 3 models. This new Kindle is the most affordable and basic of all, think of it as the Paperwhite (2013) without light. At $79 (with Special Offers) it is $10 more than the previous basic model, but $40 lower than the now mid-level PW.
Some of the feature set not available in previous years' Kindle basic:
Touchscreen and higher contrast display
Goodreads integration, Kindle FreeTime, Vocabulary Builder, Word Wise (coming soon), and more
Double the on-device storage
20% faster processor
You can find out more on Amazon itself: (No referrals links/codes)

Usually I recommend the basic model to people who want to try out e-readers because it is so cheap, and even although this year's is 2 cups of coffee more, I think Amazon added enough features to entice the masses. No more D-pad and slow page flips...
Now when are they going to sell direct to Singapore...
