last time AMD is still a viable CPU to buy for DIYer... but seems like nobody here buy AMD cpu anymore...

buy the fm2 series to try try their cool APU system for m-itx mini coms lo
other than that i think not many ppl investing in amd liao

Intel is simply better now, it's that simple. Not to say AMD is bad or isn't viable or anything like that because they ain't, but why would anyone pick the worse of the 2? Last time was a bit different, people bought Intel because of the brand name.

Was surprised to see that many shop in sls that does not carry amd cpu anymore, but probably in 2014 or 2016 things will start to change with their new products. Lets wait and see.

Read somewhere that they went down the wrong route in R&D and it would take that amount of time to backtrack to the level of performance that can catch up to intel.

AMD still has a very long way to go in their CPU department. Their current Piledriver core performance still short of Intel Nehalem microarchitecture of 4-5 years old. And they have also since shifted into retailing through distributor rather than directly beginning with AMD Trinity APUs. Therefore, you get much lesser variety to choose from, and that really disappoint interested buyers and many have jumped over to Intel.
